    Water conditioner disaster.

I do believe I posted earlier that if dosing your tank directly has always worked then I wouldn't change. I was just trying to save you some product.

    Krib fry help.

Good call it is supposed to be a good product my LFS raises fry in them all the time. I was going to reccomend letting the parents raise up the fry for a while. I have bred kribs in the past and they make great parents. It's a lot of fun to watch. You might have some trouble from the rams but...

As far as I can remember, don't recall frontosas ever bein' considered a "hap" by hobbyists; few of the Lake Tanganyika fish are or have ever been. Regardless, they are currently in their own tribe (Cyphotilapiini) in the subfamily Pseudocrenilabrinae, and are from Lake Tanganyika rather than...

See I'm not referring to hobbiest such as yourself. You did the research and are looking for clarification. That is IMO what the forums are for. I completely agree there is a ton of conflicting info out there. And speaking for myself and I'm sure others will agree I have no problem helping such...

And another thing, I understand this is a forum for beginners, experts, and everything in between. But seriously some of re threads people start are ridiculous. It's called google people. Prime example "What does cycling my tank mean?" Google will give you 32,000 sites in about 1/10th of a...

Haha thank you I feel a little better now. I don't claim to be an expert. Not even close. But I am pretty knowledgeable and general fish keeping and am considerably knowledgeable about specific Genera of fish. If I'm giving you advice it usually comes from my personal experience not just some...

Why is it when you give people advice contrary to what they want to hear they automatically dismiss and and keep asking the same rediculous question until someone equally as ignorant gives them an answer they like? sorry just needed to get some member input on this.

OP screw it I'm just goin to tell you. Fromtosa is from Lake Malawi and was considered a hap for many years but has been re classed to the genus Cyphotilapia. The labs are all Mbuna from lake Malawi. The peacocks are also from lake Malawi. Peacocks and Mbuna don't usually mix but the member of...

I knew what you were getting at I'm just a sucker for west and Central African riverine sp and people seem to forget they exist. I'm on a mission to re- expose this awesome group of fish to the hobby!

Op do some research on your current stocklist and find out whee they all come from. I could tell you but people on this forum need to learn how to use google for basic info. Not referring to you specifically just saying. Anywho I will tell you the Frontosa gets massive.

Not true old world riverine cichlids come from the same kid of waters as most New world fish, soft, acidic, and stained with tannis. A better statement would be not to mix Rift Lake cichlids with any riverine type old or new world.

    New Cichlids

If you have a proper school of tiger barbs they will nip and fight with each other instead of your other fish.

    Krib fry help.

They make these little specimen containers that hang off the side and you hook up aerator to and it pushes the old water out and pulls tank water in.

Good call adding the Danios. You can try a school of some larger characins also if the danios don't work out.

Dude comparing angels to JD is like comparing Jesus to Satin. A JD out of breeding is 10x more aggresive then a spawning pair of Angels not to mention double the adult size. a spawong pair pf JD's is quite formidable they woild destroy any milrogeophagus in an instant. i would highly advise...

Yes but GBR usually require dither fish themselves.

    Disappearing act?

It may also be a labidochromis caeruleus. Not the electric yellow variant from Lions cove but the more abundant wild type.and by more abundant I mean in the actual lake not in the hobby.
  22. C

    Disappearing act?

Yeah it looks like a pseudotropheus but certaintly not a demansoni. You should think about moving that crabro also a 55 is much to small with all those other fish. I know you can keep a pair in a 55 but not a whole bunch of fish with it.

    driftwood in Malawi tank

Lol with that kind if buffering capacity it would take super concentrated humic acid ad tannis to mess with your params.
  24. C

    driftwood in Malawi tank

I completely agree but most good LFS keep their rift lake cichlids in a separate system at a slightly alkaline PH. Any tank bred specimen will do fine in neutral water and again I agree stability is key. My point was that if the driftwood did affect your water parameters then you would have to...

    driftwood in Malawi tank

Driftwood produces tannis and humic acid which softens the water and drops your PH. Lake Malawi has hard alkaline water. IMO using driftwood would be counterproductive as you would have to use product and buffers to. Prefect your water chemistry.
