Update on Odyssea B60 Bowfront tank

3rd year anniversary of setup. Originally bought the tank, stand and accessories on eBay for $187... Here's a link to a short YouTube video viewing the tank http://youtu.be/66u6j9gOB7g Sent from my iPad using Aquarium Advice

    Stocking Aquarium

Nolan99 It's good that you are asking questions before you set up your tank. But I saw no mention whether you want corals, anemones, etc. included in your tank. If you go the fish only route, you will need plenty of LiveRock though as some of your specie choices include fish that hide a lot...

    Shrimp eating my anemone!

Hmm.. I have a 55 gallon reef tank and had something eat one of my anemones, same species as yours. I have a Coral Banded Shrimp and he was not the culprit, BUT a Porcelain "gorilla" crab was... Caught him red handed. I safely and humanely removed the critter and brought him to my LFS and told...

    Black algae

I agree - Cyrano thrive in a low water movement environment - and additionally low dissolved oxygen conditions. I once had one of those "designer" tanks that was 25" deep and 18" square for the opening. Nothing but trouble battling Cyrano in that tank - adequate oxygen is a must...

So many pictures and stories in this hobby I need to start a blog spot myself

Thanks, that Odyssea B60 Bowfront tank has been awesome. But it seems that in the last few months that's really come into it's own, so to speak. I was a really, really maintenance obsessive person up until I started taking New York Steelo's advice on deep sank beds. Now, all I do is keep track...

Installed a Nanny cam to check on my reef aquarium when I am on vacation or at work

I am using a program called LogMeIn. A free app for the iPad, $29.99 for the Android. The download for my Windows 7 machine is free from logmein.com. I use that to access my computers router remotely. Works flawlessly for me using a T-Mobile hotspot through my cell phone. Never tried Ustream...

Lone fry survivor after returning from vacation

So this is interesting, had a female Peacock spit her eggs before I left on vacation. And while cleaning the tank found the sole survivor pictured. Immediately transferred to the small tank with sponge filtration. Cute lil' small fry, huh,,,

Thanks, the water level is low because this particular type of tank as an overhead filtration system and I like the effect of the water free falling into the tank. It helps aerate the water a little better and also I like the gurgling noise it makes while the water falls ... Kinda soothing...

Yeah, I am. New to the freshwater Cichlid tanks. I think I am gonna cut my water changes back to 1/3 instead of 1/2 a week. Hmm... I did feed them while the stuff was unplugged, that may also contributed to the problem as you point out. Thanks...

Bad day yesterday and learned a lesson

Thanks, that was tough for my wife and I to watch. We are both animal lovers and a battery backup will be insurance while we are away from the house. I already have battery backup supplies on my big reef tank.
