    well water

It can be deadly if its high enough though a good water conditioner like prime will remove any heavy metals in your water though and make it safe , as for other things I'm not sure, only thing that comes to mind is ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates, as well as copper if plan to ever keep inverts

Thinking of buying Eheim classic 2215

no any will do, you can get this at most hardware stores. i use this one though and it does say fish safe, so maybe this will be the better one to use Lifegard Aquatics Silicone Lubricant small bottle but will last a very long time

Thinking of buying Eheim classic 2215

i use it and love it, i would not use anything else. Priming is also very easy if you do it right, their are vidoes on youtube that will show you the easiest way of doing it. true the flow is not as strong as comparable canisters, though this is because with the eheim classic their is 0 bypass...

    Dwarf puffer issues

snails should be fine, its their main diet in the wild and needed to grind down their teeth, otherwise they would grow too big not allowing them to eat and eventually die.

    Different filter media???

you can get the marineland blue filter pads (or similar from petsmart), its a big blue filter pad that you can cut to fit inside your filter, it will last you a very long time since when it gets dirty you can take it out, rinse it in old tank water during a water change, and re use it. you can...

How much longer will these nitrites....

If you use one sure, it comes with instructions on how to do so, I myself just cut a few pieces off and put them in my filter, dumped the water from the bag into the aquarium (per instructions) and put the filter into the tank, the filter is quite big, but only needs to be in aquarium for 4...

How much longer will these nitrites....

hard to say, though if took 2 months for nitrites to show up, you could be looking at another month for your cycle to complete. Fish-in cycles can take awhile and require alot of water changes, this is why most people suggest doing a fishless cycle. you can always try this product, it is an...

    New 40 Breeder Setup (Urgent!)

i dont think you will have a bigger risk of cracking with the foam pads, just make sure you are only supporting the frame, and the foam is not touching the glass. like i said give the company a call.

    New 40 Breeder Setup (Urgent!)

you should not be placing styro foam around a glass stand, that should only be done with acrylic tanks, also glass stands only need to be supported in the corners, the middle does not need to be supported. ive never heard of doing that with a stand, id give the company a call to make sure. if...

Seeding an Eheim conister for a quarantine tank?

4 weeks minimum to get a good enough amount of bacteria on the eheim. also adding water from the established tank to the 10 gallon will have no effect, bacteria live on surfaces not in the water column (least not any measurable amount to make a difference)

Help! Cannot find answer to Fishless cycling mystery

i did not mean you cant use prime while you cycle, i was just saying that is not its sole purpose after testing the tap water, if it shows 0 ammonia or less then 4 ppm. add some water to a bucket then treat with prime and wait a day, and test that water to see if you come up with ammonia again...
