i do the same thing twice a month.....though i do not change anything until the filters are falling apart and never had a problem....as long as you are not changing all of your media at the same time, every time you should be fine.....the gunk you clean off the impellers and what not is mostly...

No problem just remember water changes are going to be more important than adding all sorts of chemicals...except the water conditioner that will be the most important chemical you should use

Agreed the Flourish products are good for your plants Aquarium salt should only really be used to treat illness -like ich- most fish are raised in freshwater in the hobby some do raise them to be brackish which would be marine salts. and most plants will melt and die off from salts if used...

How long has these tanks been set up for? do you know your parameters? ( Ammonia - Nitrites - Nitrates) What are you using for dechlorinating? Are you using any chemicals outside of a water conditioner?

Not sure why i didn't think of boiling or hot water :facepalm: I'd say put some real hot water in...and boil some and mix it in with the hot water...being careful not to go from a cold to hot setting and blowing out the glass.

I have prefer solid color....but i have seen some really nice natural looks on some "expert" tanks ones that look too perfect to be real! I would say if it interests you do some looking around for what pops out for you that way you know its right and a good fit..... Personally I think with some...

You could do a background......i'm a fan of the black painted background...maybe with moving a stick on??....IMO that would help bring out color in the tank....you could add some Driftwood....something long maybe going from a bottom corner across to the opposite top corner

Depends on the type of Bleach it will contain Peroxide but Bleach itself is not peroxide.

Vinegar? Peroxide? i know diluted they are ok......not sure if a very small amount of bleach is ok or not.... I would try a little bit of vinegar and water give the tank a good scrubbing let it dry really well....and if you are changing to a different substrate you don't really have to worry...

Like huizheng1988 said the live foods tend to be very fatty for aquarium fish....that could explain the quick growth.....i'd stick with the pellets and leave the live foods as more of a treat from time to time. But Oscars tend to grow about an inch or so a month and slow down when they get to...

OSCARS This is a link about oscars talks about sexing them Breeding them etc.... How big is the Oscar currently...i think once they hit a certain size the growth rate can slow down.....also what size tank do you have it in.....too small of a tank can impact the growth as well

Mine do i think it's the current....i catch them riding the currents of my filters and what not.....strangely I catch my Dwarf Gourami and Molly doing it to lol I think they just like playing in the currents and what not

YUP!!!! I'm OCD with everything new clothes, dishes, toothbrush etc ..... I wash everything new. Simply because i know the people at a factory won't take the time to do so properly.....To much wasted time and money for them....unless it's medical then well they have to clean it regardless :)...
