i give them frozen blood worms maybe once a week...and i think the last plant i added was the java fern about 4 months ago...could it have come with one of them may be? :roll:

ive had them all for almost a year and ive quarantined them all for 2 weeks before i introducing into the main tank...im trying my best to get a pic of the neons but they are so small its hard to get a decent one...ill keep trying though....

i have maracyn II...maybe i should try that...i havent used it because im not sure what it will do to the otos...im pretty good with keeping the tank clean...and my nitrates never go above 5ppm...i did treat them with melafix...no change and yesterday i just finished treating with...

they do eat...everything else except the medicated food...i have erythromycin and neomycin both in some sort of gel food...i dont even think those are good against TB... :?

i think thats what im dealing with...i have had the neons in the QT tank for over a month now...still having that one spot each that resembles ich...but after almost 8 weeks of high temp nothing happened...one has a crooked spine...and about half of them are looking really thin...so ive been...

all my fish eat zucchini too...i think my fish will eat just about anything you drop into the tank...except medicated food...they one thing you sometimes want them to eat... :lol:

i fishless cycled my tank with a raw shrimp and had the same white stuff you are talking about...didnt touch it at all...the tank cycled in about 2 weeks...when finished i took the shrimp out...did a big water change and got some fish...dont worry it takes time but it will happen :wink:

Ashley is right about the dipsticks...i work in a hospital lab and we do use the dipsticks for urine...you just have to be careful in the way you store them...the machine that reads the dipsticks is not to get the exact numbers only...but also to avoid different people reading them seeing...

youve received great advice so far...id like to add my 2 cents...when you bump up the temperature do it slowly...like 1F every 8-12 hours or so...and sorry about the neons...not the hardiest fish...good luck! :wink:

can you use regular gloves? i work in a hospital so i have nitrile gloves...latex and powder free...i wonder if they are ok for fish tanks... :roll:

ive had 4 otos for almost a year now and the only advice i can give you about feeding is this....look at its tummy...if its round and full then they are getting enough from your tank...if not drop algae wafers at night when the lights are off...looking at the tummy is easy since they are stuck...

according to the article you can successfully treat TB with erythromycin...i have maracyn II and erythromycin gel food that the guy gave me for free at big als...because they didnt have the ones i was looking for...this gel food wont hurt your biological cycle...or thats what they claim at...

anybody knows where to get TB medicine? or any antibiotic other than streptomycin or kanamycin???

they do that all the time...these mating rituals...2 will get side by side and their dorsal fin really erected and then they kinda start shaking and moving together at the same time...a few times ive seen them going upside down underneath a leaf but...who knows? i would be the first one to be...

i dont mean to hijack the thread but im going through the same thing...i just realised that one neon has a curved spine...they are in the QT tank already so im gonna follow your suggestion and get the antibiotic...but i just wanted to post here because LKH posted about some females having odd...
