    breeding copepods?

Is it possible to breed copepods at home? I have an empty 10gallon and my brother has a few hundred pods (dont know what species) which he uses to feed his scarlet badis. I was wondering if it was possible to breed these guys.

    Gopro+mantis shrimp?

Yeah I know a lot of divers have had their expensive camera rigs smashed by a mantis that mistook the reflection in the lens for another mantis lol. Sent from my SM-G920V using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Gopro+mantis shrimp?

So basically im doing a project in biology about invertebrates so of course I chose my mantis shrimp as the subject for my project. He's a 4inch purple spot mantis in a 20gal tall. What I want to do is somehow mount my gopro to the aquarium glass so that i can record the mantis. I was hoping to...

    Questions about yasha/Pistol

I've got a yasha and a candy stripe pistol in my 55g with a firefish and a pair of clowns. The sand bed is caribsea aragonite and is a little over two inches deep. I know the yasha and pistol make a burrow so i dont know if two inches is enough. The sand is pretty course and I was wondering if...

How many rabbit snails in a 10g

I currently have 4 of the large orange posos and 5 of the so called "mini" yellows (those max out at about 1.5 inches). Could I add 3 more orange posos and three king sulawesi snails(those get around 3 inches). The tank has two aquaclear 30s, one with bio media and floss and the other with purigen.

To quarantine or not to quarantine

I've always wondered why people say that keeping fish at a lower salinity of 1020 or 1018 is less stressful since the reefs they were collected from are 1025. I may be wrong though. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    how to raise babie crayfish

In the end, it's up to you to exercise your best judgment. If covered securely I'm sure you won't have a problem.

    how to raise babie crayfish

Marbles are also pretty hardy. Though I would be hesitant to put that species outside seeing as its self cloning. It could easily become an invasive species which is why several states have banned the import and sale of that species.

    how to raise babie crayfish

Well since you don't want to spend a lot I'm assuming you only want one tank. Crayfish can be territorial but you can solve this easily. Buy a pvc pipe (only a couple of bucks) and cut it into 3 or 4inch sections. The sections of pvc will serve as a cave and designated "territory" for each...

To quarantine or not to quarantine

Ok I'll definitely do 3 weeks and I'm picking up a 10 gallon today. I have an hob filter but what should I use as filter media? I know carbon is a no no. I have floss, Aquaclear sponges, bio media (the noodles), and a bag of purigen on hand. What should I use?

To quarantine or not to quarantine

I'm planning on purchasing a flame angel for my 55g. To be completely honest, I have never quarantined a fish in my life. I have several fire fish, clowns, and gobies, all of which were never qt'd yet they never got any disease, sickness, or parasite. The reason I'm only exploring this now is...

    Can I grow mushroom corals?

So I've been looking around online and have gotten really interested in all the different varieties of mushrooms. Before this all I had seen were the dull brown and green ones at my LFS but I've found some pretty cool ones online. I was hoping to put them in with my g. Smithii mantis shrimp. The...

    New filefish on his deathbed?

He just moved slightly but his gills are obviously working very hard because he isn't swimming. Should I turn my circulation pumps on to pass more water over his gills? I know some fish are adapted to manually pass water over they're own gills in order to remain motionless but I don't think the...

    New filefish on his deathbed?

So about two weeks ago I got a white spotted pygmy filefish. Today I come home to see him glued to the intake of my ac110. So I immediately kill the filter and the fish floats to the bottom. He's alive and still breathing despite the fact that he hasn't moved. Should I expect him to pass away or...

I just had the scare of a lifetime

So about 4 hours ago I was acclimating my latest shipment from blue zoo aquatics. I put the last fish in about an hour ago. So I finally decide to clean the mess of drip lines and buckets up and as I'm about to pour out about an inch of water from the last bucket into my sink I see a candy...

    Fire and ice zoanthid

I have a 55g with a deep blue dual bulb t5 fixture (total of 48w). I saw a colony of 4 of the fire and ice zoanthids for sale for $28 (is this a good price?) And will my lights be sufficient?

    ID this cray please?

They are cloning. Makes for a nice treat for your fish. I believe you might be confusing the larger "fighter claws" with fiddler crabs. I've kept several species of crayfish and never saw any claw differentiation between the male or female. Not sure about the exact sex of marbled crayfish but...
