    Nitrates are too high.

My 55 gallon tank is cycled but I'm having issues with nitrates. My tap water tests at about 10 ppm. I do the necessary water changes but at best I'm still back at 10 ppm. I don't have many fish yet (6 small hardy fish) but I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to get levels closer to 0...

Nitrites are giving me high blood pressure.

My ammonia is almost at zero and my nitrites keep spiking. They have been spiking for about a week or so and I keep doing 50% water changes. Can anyone tell me an average time for the nitrites to go down? I'm trying to see the light at the end of this very damp tunnel.

I have 7 fish and they are hardy and small. My ph is 8.2, ammonia is at .25, nitrites are at .50 ppm and nitrates are...

    Tall 55 gallon tank troubles

I have a tall 55 gallon tank and I'm having trouble stocking it. I was told not to get bala sharks or catfish because they require more distance horizontally to swim. Is that true? if so, any suggestions for larger freshwater fish? Thank you!
