Just toss that filter on the tank with the parents the fry won't produce enough waste to make a serious difference as long as you stay reasonable with water changes.

I only do it because one of my filters crashed and my tank has a relatively low bio load.

Edit: dumb idea though I do like the smaller tanks heavily planted with 6ish bright colored schooling fish

Also look into serpae tetras.

Almost any fish can get along if introduced properly believe it or not I used to have a comet fish and a tiger oscar I kept together for close to a year I currently have a opaline gourami and a albino angelfish with no problems
