    baby snails?!!

hey guys! I have a ten gallon reef tank that's been up and running more or less smoothly for about nine months. I just recently started seeing baby snails. some of them look to be stromatella type and the others are similar to turbos? they are very small. basically, do I want to try to get rid...

    coral id

hey y'all! I bought a bunch of stuff at my lfs and I saw this cool coral waving about and I asked about it and they just gave it to me. I wasn't gonna say no, but I have no clue what it is and what it requires. it's anchored itself to some live rock in my tank but I was wondering if anyone could...

    Tang police

yikes sorry everyone I didn't know this thread would be controversial :) I agree, we need some cohesive way of rating and sharing our Experiences with these fish stores. it can be so hard to weed through tons of different opinions.

    Tang police

found myself at [store] picking up some food for my bird, came across this gem. tank can't be larger then a ten gallon, had five fish in there as well. like I understand how retail works and that often it's just not economical to provide the ideal environment for fish but I usually see them in...

what ON EARTH is growing on my duncan

here's another photo. the Duncan's a little unhappy with me right now after the brutal assassination of its hitchhiker, hence why it is closed up.

what ON EARTH is growing on my duncan

I've had this Duncan for about a month and a half now, and at first I was struggling with some tissue on the Duncan deteriorating. Nothing major, i never lost any heads, but just enough tissue loss to worry me a lot haha. now, it's almost fully recovered, still a few bare spots, but it is...

New to the forum, new to salt.

if you want, but I don't really see why... carbon is great for dealing with any sort of chemicals or toxins that enter the water, like with coral and their tendency to chemical warfare. that being said you don't need that much carbon at one time, so I think you would be fine either way so long...

    need advise!

it's true that fish selection is limited but you still have lots of options! and the fish that you can have are super cool. I am partial to the royal gramma. and clowns are a good standby. tailspot blenny, gobies, all really cool. lots of cool crustaceans you can do too. porcelain crabs tock, as...

Coral for beginners? Include water parameters plz

HAHAHAHA shhh it'll be okay. well make it through I promise! you will do more harm than good by doing something drastic. trust me I know what a fish tank freak out feels like but you gotta take it slow. you could have induced a mini cycle when you added those fish. how new are they? their...

Coral for beginners? Include water parameters plz

I would just do another ten or twenty percent water change today or tomorrow and see what happens. don't go crazy, since it's just a cycled tank you just have to try to make that go down.

Coral for beginners? Include water parameters plz

ideally you would have none, but just acclimate slowly and I would try a zoa colony because they like dirtier water. but really watch the calcium.

Coral for beginners? Include water parameters plz

yay! I want a royal gramma for my ten gallon. it's two months old. I would recommend zoas and mushrooms definitely to start out. things are like weeds. once you see them start to do well try some LPS, like candy cane coral or Duncan's. Duncan's are great, super easy. most LPS require additional...

I have a marine land penguin hob filter. the twenty gallon one, and I use the carbon and I also stick chemipure elite in a mesh bag and shove that in there too. I have the reefbrite xho double output led system which I had custom made because they don't make a ten gallon size. stupid right? it...
