why would you want a common pleco?? There are sooo much cooler looking plecos out there. Imyself have a royal pleco and a rhino pleco.

Dude, if you want a shrimp tank, then no fish unless you go to like a 40G or bigger with live plants like java moss, xmas moss, etc. for the baby shrimp to hide in then it will work. i have done this in a 55G.

It should max out between 5-8" get a pvc pipe or long under brush for cover. They like to bury themselves in the sand and attack food that comes by.
