    Hammer Coral Flesh Coming Out!

The red slime is just a pain in the butt. Had an algea bloom after my Ro/Di & Protein skimmer went down a couple days of each other. I used some water from a watermill express ( supposed to go through 11 different filtrations including Ro ) and found the water quality is terrible there. I tested...

    Hammer Coral Flesh Coming Out!

I just bought the hammer coral saturday, when I was placing the coral I felt a piece of the shell break and in 2 days this is what I have. Is this coral going to die or can it save itself... All para.. are within specs except for nitrate = 20 ppm... Hence the red slime.

    Bubble Magus Nac6 - Help

Ever since I replaced the factory Atman 2500 pump, Ive noticed that I can no longer open the venturi to anything other than off. At off, the highest water level I can achieve is an inch below the start of the funnel. Anything other than off results in a very low water level in the skimmer. The...

    Sea Cucumber

I have a Tiger Tail Sea Cucumber ( Believe thats the name ) that has always been a great waste eater. Ever since I upgraded to my new tank with new sand, he has been searching for waste in all the wrong places. He hangs out around the top of the tank on pumps and behind the overflow box and...

    aptasia delima

Ive had good luck with picklin lime from your local store.. ph is so high kills it from the inside out and will not hurt your tank. Hope this helps!

Cant get ammonia to come down

For the aptesia, you can buy pickle lime from the store and using a syringe insert it into infected area. Ph is so high in pickle lime it will kill it from inside out but not hurt your tank.

So im moving my 55 gallon to a new 105 gallon...

I was just starting phosphate control (10.0) when I broke my 55 gallon down and, I had always had some nitrate issues with how my live rock was stacked. So I thought it was best not to carry sand to the new tank.

So im moving my 55 gallon to a new 105 gallon...

Did you have any phosphate or nitrate issues?

So im moving my 55 gallon to a new 105 gallon...

Yes, 55 gallon had cracks in load bearing parts of stand and did not know how much longer I could use it safely. I had also read about many many successful moves in one day without tank cycling and new sand being used.

So im moving my 55 gallon to a new 105 gallon...

Ended up buying new sand and just seeding with old. But, I treated old water like liquid gold and got every drop I could. 72 hours in now, fish are happy corals are happy, and im happy. The only thing I worry about is my sea cuc. he seems to be having a hard time finding detritus, and I dont...

So im moving my 55 gallon to a new 105 gallon...

And im stumped about what to do with the sand. Some say you must use old sand for bacteria etc... some say use new sand to keep from creating toxins in new tank. I just wanted to see what everyone would do. Happy Reefing! :fish2:

Like bill said we need more info on tank. A massive water change is in order before adding any more creatures.

    My 55 gallon Reef

From start to that point with the refugium and everything 3500- 4000 rough. I grew most of the corals myself from frags in a separate frag tank. All that xenia started off one frag.

Just started out with corals. What should my water temps be at?

Ideal temp for corals is 76-78. Rapid temp changes can cause issues with most corals, so be sure to have a heater if house stays at 70. With a 20 gallon you could possibly get by with running t8 bulbs, 1 blue 1 white. I would recommend a small power head 25$? Xenia need good current flow over...

    Leather coral happiness?

Also, when I got my leather I had placed it originally in the sand bed and it was not happy at all. I moved it up to the highest point by itself for max light and flow and found it open the next day. Its a good thing leathers are very hardy corals!
