    Nanocube Tanks

I bought a nanocube recently and now it is a planted fw tank. - it comes with a 24 W light, you can choose either half full-specter half actinic bulb, or just a full spectrum bulb. They also include a bag of activated carbon, some bioballs, 2 sponges for the filter and a bag of ceramic rings...

    pellia help??

thanks, all. i'm using one of those liquid carbon thingamajigs - my tank's too small to justify some bigger co2 contraption. But that's true: only those pellia pieces that were left laying around on the gravel are fungus-full, none of the leaves that got accidentally weighted with gravel bits...

so i bought some pellia from floridadriftwood.com... can't grow riccia - not yet at that level of sophistication  my understanding was that i just let pellia sink then it would establish itself at the bottom.... so far most of my pellia seems to be infested with fungus although some...

new otos - torpedo poop machines

So I went and got some otos yesterday. Did my homework, so they got good parameter water, lots of plants, lots of algea. So far no casualties, of course, too early to celebrate. But all of them seem to be swimming around, not afraid of my betta, eating algae like there is no tomorrow. :wink...

    carbon filter and fertilizer/liquid CO2

Hi all, So my fishless (so far) but planted FW nanocube is up and running... I put in some fertilizer and liquid CO2 to get plants going; however, nanocubes have a bag of active carbon, and I was wondering if this carbon will absorb the fertilizer or the liquid CO2 (since it can filter out...

    online ordering mix up problem

well, plants came: some look v.good, some look weak but will see. GOt a spaterdock(?) too, but seems to be too big for my 10 gallon, might just get rid of it. Will plant into tank tomorrow. Snails have arrived live and well, now are sitting in a tupperware container munching away on some...

    online ordering mix up problem

Thanks. The plants will have to wait a couple of days. Will try to keep the two ordered Malaysian snails (if they arrive alive of course) in some dechlorinated water, feeding them some flakes. Darn online peeps. :x

    online ordering mix up problem

Due to some online ordering mix up :? I will receive my plants 1-2 days before I will be able to plant them in the aquarium. What to do in the mean time? Would they survive if I put them into small tub of dechlorinated water? Do they necessarily have to be submerged? Thanks

HELP first ICH outbreak ever. ...need advice!

It is not true: ich is NOT always present the tank. It dies in empty tanks in a couple of days (no host fish to attach to). To introduce ich in the tank, an infected fish needs to be added to an otherwise uninfected fish. Thus, if there is no external source of infection, fish and tank will be...

    Eclipse 12: Light Issues

Thanks I've ordered Custom Sealife 65 retrofit, that's nearly 3 watts per galon. Woohoo, now I can grow some funky plants :D Although, I should have read up on the Eclipse more: no wonder that online sellers would not tell how little light this system offers.

    Eclipse 12: Light Issues

Hmm, found higher watt eclipse replacement bulbs, but question: will they fit in the canopy? Now I wish I just got a simple tank and customized it myself...; :?

    Eclipse 12: Light Issues

Hi all, just got my first aquarium - Eclipse 12 and ultimately want to do a planted aquarium. However, it seems that the light included in the system (13 watts for 12 gallons) is not enough to even grow low-light plants (even anubias seem to need 1.5 watts per gallon which is less what I've got...
