Does anyone know what this organism is? Is it a coral or invert? I touched it while doing a water change today, and it tried to grab my finger. Thanks. 100 gallon mixed reef tank 10 gallon quarantine tank

    Returning to saltwater

I would look into marine land led lighting. They are very reliable and extremely easy to use. I have reef capable lights, but they also have lights for FOWLR under $200 Drsfosterandsmith.com

Why are my Zoas always closed?

I have marine land LEDs , and my zoanthids opened after being in the tank for 2 hours. They look to be more open in moonlights, but not as much in daylight. Mine are towards the bottom, and they seem happy.

article about how some people want the bangaii cardinal on the endangered list

Hey guys, I don't know about you guys, but I received my issue of coral magazine today. In it was an article about how some people want the bangaii cardinal on the endangered list. What's your guys opinion on it? Personally, I don't think its necessary, due to the number of tank bred specimens...

    How big of a tank

    Green chromis

They do that as a natural camouflage in the ref, to hide from predators at night

    Green chromis

Lol, welcome to the chromis club! I have a school, and I notice the same thing, just be careful with your overflow, cuz they love to go through it

Lionfish want in a small tank

You would need to have no fish he would be Able to eat, no chromis, etc. He is also very poisonous, so id get gloves and tongs whenever you need to do maintanence. Try to get carribean lions, not the non invAsive south pacific lions. Make sure to cycle the tank before adding fish.

I would suggest no less than 55 gallons, for a fuzzy dwarf lionfish.

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

What filter do you have? And LR will be abt 20-30lbs . It generally is about 5$ a pound. You can also use some dead rock, but try to use a lot of Live rock.

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

I said that the eshopps one is good. I use a lot of eshopps equipment on my filtration. Don't be discouraged, but he has a point. It will not be easy. But that's why we are here. Best of luck!

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

Look at the remora, or the skim slim skimmers. If you want to invest in good equipment, look at the eshopps one.

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

The water has to be very similar to what's in the tank. Personally, I keep mine at 1.024 and that's that. Are you 100% on not getting a bigger tank? Like a 55? It will be easier for you with the managing of it all.

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

Trust me here, sand is WAY better than crushed coral. It looks much better. Check out hob skimmers at this website www.drsfosterandsmith.com

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

Depends on the manufacturer.some will be that, it will tell you on the bucket. I happen to have my heater from my 10 gallon freshwater tank, and another for my quarantine tank. I use both for my mixing. For your size of a tank, it's a must. Just pick up one from the LFS. I do one per bucket of...

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

I use 2 5 gallon buckets, put my rodi water in it, each one has a power head and a heater . I then take my mix and add one of the red party cups of salt to each one. The salt instructions should help you out. I then let it mix for a day. I do 10% changes twice a month. For you, that would be...

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

I get mine from natures ocean . I believe it is 65 dollars for a bucket, which makes 160 gallons of water. I mix it a day before , then I do my change. It usually takes a 1\2 an hour, and I do 10 gallons for a 10% change twice a month for my 100 gallon.

Thinking about starting a saltwater 30g?

Hey man, A 30 gallon is ok for a starter, if you are willing to take care of it. Marine aquariums are beautiful and amazing, yet require so much more care than freshwater. You can do a canister filter, but a sump is also an option. What lighting do you have? Are you doing fish only? Is it reef...
