I live in Missouri as well. That's why I am doing freshwater. I have searched all around for a decent fish shop and there is nothing so far.
I have not tried Jefferson city yet though. That's about 45 minutes from here.

It's a real pain to find any decent saltwater fish living in the mid west where I live now.

Chaeto is easy to get started and will populate your tank as long as your fish don't eat the copepods.
Be careful with the chaulerpa. When it begins to multiply it will cloud up your tank. They will release spores all at once and make a mess of things.

Your biggest concern should be your choice of a filtration system.
Research "wet/dry filter systems" before you start. Otherwise your in for a lot of work and continuous water changes.
Until you get your filter system going everything else is a waste of time.
