    White worm/parasite swimming in aquarium?

I'm pretty sure that it was definitely not a plan aria, as the thing that I saw was to thin and it didn't have those triangular notches on its head. And it did look like a white eyelash, and the head of it did look black and everything else being white. I also did see it land and bury itself...

    Confused about fishless cycle reading.

I've had a similar incident with my fishless cycle. After a few weeks of cycling my tank my readings were 0 ammonia 0 nitrites and 10 nitrates. After I added ammonia I tested the water a few hours later to find that my nitrites were up again and that ammonia was a 0 then the nitrites would...

What is growing on my anubias nana roots?

I thought it was some kind of algae. I didn't even think that fungus or mold could be in an aquarium. Sorry if these sound like silly questions but... 1. What is the reason for mold or fungus to be growing in the aquarium in the first place? I understand that algae grow due the excess light...

What is growing on my anubias nana roots?

Hi, today I noticed that my anubias nana is growing some white stuff on the end of its roots. I tried to remove it with my fingers but it's got a glue like feeling to it and won't come off. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like hairy little white cotton balls on the ends of the...

Does my beta have fin rot?

Thank you fish fur, his fins were already uneven when I bought him. I'll probably just wait a few more days to see if anything changes before adding aquarium salt. As for the type of substrate, I'm using aquaculture aquarium gravel as the substrate.

Question about quarantining betta with possible fin rot

I bought my very first fish (betta fish) on wednesday and noticed that his fins were looking a bit shredded and i'm afraid that he has fin rot. I bought a 1.5 gallon aquarium to quarantine him as well as API aquarium salt, bettafix, and API T.C. Tetracycline. He's currently in a 10 gallon...

Does my beta have fin rot?

I finally got my aquarium cycled a few days ago and bought a halfmoon betta from pet sense on wednesday. After I accumulated him to the tank and released him I noticed that his fins looked a bit shredded. He has been active and eating HBH betta bite pellets (2 in the morining and 2 at night)...

Unusual nitrite reading during fishless cycle

Yes, I have made absolutely sure that I was doing the nitrate reading correctly but it's the nitrites that are causing me concern not to nitrates. The nitrates are now at 40-80 ppm so it is rising Nitrites are still appearing when 1-2ppm of ammonia is added. Nitrites are around 2-5 ppm when...

Unusual nitrite reading during fishless cycle

Opps I meant to say I was doing a water change every day this week to get the nitrite and nitrate down to a safer level. I tested my nitrites again and it's down to 0ppm again. I don't have a clue why the nitrites are disappearing and reappearing.

Unusual nitrite reading during fishless cycle

I've been doing a fishless cycle in my 10 gallon for the last 2-3 months. I've been doing a 50% - 70% water change every day to lower the nitrite and nitrate level to safer levels. A few days ago when I tested the water I noticed that the nitrites disappeared and I had nitrates at around 80...

    Hardy plants

Here is the picture of the brown spots that I was mentioning earlier. I also added some nutrafin plant gro in the aquarium. Do I need to cut any of brown leaves or stems that have the brown spots or can I just leave them as is? Also will my bubbler affect the anubias or can I just leave it on?

    Hardy plants

I was actually quite surprised that the petsmart I went were out of most of there plants. The only one that they had that I like was the Anubias Nana. I made sure I got all of the gel off and tied it to a fishing line and laid a rock under the fishing line since I couldn't tie the rock with it...

    Hardy plants

Thanks a lot guys I'm thinking that the Wisteria and the Anubia nana would look real nice in the aquarium. One of the other ones that I noticed was the Anacharis. Would that do well with the low light and be a hardy plant as well. Also do I need any fertilizer/plant food for the plants? Would...

    Hardy plants

Does anyone know of any good hardy plants at petsmart? I'm currently doing a fishless cycle and wanted some live plants in my 10 gallon aquarium. Do I need to have a CO2 infection in my aquarium in order to have plants in it?

    Is my betta sick?

My best guess is that your betta is suffering from ammonia poisoning. From what I am reading your 5 gallon aquarium hasn't been cycled. Have you tested the water to make sure that everything is normal?

Sorry about that I had to leave for work. I admit the post about day 20 & 21 is a little confusing after reading it again. Here's the long version of what happened. On day 20 the shrimp that I had left in the tank was starting to make the water and room smell. I tested the water before doing...
