    Coral’s Mouth Hardened

Seems fine now. I guess it was just doing it's thing. What concerned me was why it's mouth was hard. I thought corals mouths were soft.

    Coral’s Mouth Hardened

I came home as my coral was closing up. The light wasn’t getting darker so, not normal. Upon closer inspection, I found that my torch coral’s mouth has hardened. I tried touching the mouth area & I noticed it retracted. The tentacles are there but the mouth is hard. Is this normal?

    Clownfish Gone Mad?

I read it, it says they were atacking all animals that entered. Unless you're talking Ocelaris or Percula clownfish, Damsels will be very aggressive unless paired properly. As far as the coral, yeah that seems weird. The vending machine theory seems funny though

    45 gallon vertical tank

I had the same problem with my cube. I think tall aquariums in general aren't good because there's more vertical than horizontal swimming which lead to ultimately less space & more fish encounters. I had to beautiful & thriving tangs. One was a hippie tang & the other a yellow, both babies, &...

    Advice on Filtration

You know that live rock, depending where it's from can have ick as well as other parasites? This is why if it's already inside your main display I would leave there at least two months without fish. This will starve the parasites. For future reference, going with dry rock is easier because you...

    Clownfish Gone Mad?

Consider compatibility charts in the future. They'll tell you how aggressive the fish will be.

    Help pick out next fish

Either get something as big or bigger than the bully or take them out & set up a smaller tank just for them. Here's a fun idea, make the new tank into an anemone tank.

    Bare Bottom

I don't like the way it looks, I think sand just makes it look more natural & gives the tank that "under the sea" reef look to it. I also think sand isn't necessary like many snobby arrogant people in the other popular forums used to argue about.

    Tiny white worms

To whom it may concern or find this info helpful... The tiny worms have completely disappeared. I'm going to assume that worm exit helped with the process but it's hard to know for sure. Back to a pest free tank  Time to add corals... Not gonna trust aquaculture lol. Let this be a lesson...

    Tiny white worms

flatworm exit didn't do anything. I just added it. Waited one hour w/o carbon.. Still active worms. Added 50% as the instructions say, waited another hour.. Still active worms. I'm going to assume that it takes time for it to affect their bodies but it really doesn't seems that way. In any case...

    Tiny white worms

    It's a science experiment.

    Tiny white worms

Yeah I know they're good but my goal with this tank was ZERO macrofauna, algea, worms etc etc by having a low bio-load with amazing filtration and fish that don't need them. Thanks again for the info!

    Tiny white worms

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find any on the web about them. That must have been what killed my hammer. I'm telling you I had a ZERO pest tank. I put an ORA hammer in and all of a sudden I see copepods, then ick, now this. I didn't dip because I thought aquaculture coral tanks didn't have...

    Tiny white worms

That's okay, they're harmless anyway. Thanks again.

    Tiny white worms

Yes! Thank you! I looked up pictures and sure enough! Now I know where they came from and why they're on the glass. Thanks again.

    Tiny white worms

Thanks for responding. No doubt it's microfauna but it's definitely not pods. This looks like a slug and moves like one too. I just don't know what it is.

    Tiny white worms

These worms have appeared on the glass of my aquarium. The seems for the most part dormant and still but I've cached one or two moving and changing direction by themselves. What can they be? I've never seen anything this small before.

    Nano Reef Tank

Well I don't know what to tell you then buddy. I mean it HAS WORKED not only for me but countless others (if used properly). I didn't say recomend, I said USE. They use it for thier cleints with no problems. Dr. Hovanic (Tim) invented bio-spira when he worked for marineland (parent company of...

    Nano Reef Tank

It's worked in my tanks, my friends' tanks, I know several maintenance companies that use it & there's published & peer-reviewed scientific articles proving it does. It's just basic marine biology.

    Nano Reef Tank

No way of course not. " As one raises, the bacteria feed & convert one to the next as to not allow any to raise too high." Just as it would be by waiting it out without a bacterial supplement. It's okay, the fish won't feel a thing because it's the EXACT SAME process & thing just made...

    Nano Reef Tank

"I'm assuming (and hoping) it will go back to how it was." If you mixed the water & sand properly then yes. Most sand contain silicates(minerals) that when suspended in water can raise your salinity. "With the tank like this, would I be able to add a single clownfish tomorrow?" After the sand...

    Nano Reef Tank

It's cool, I understand. The more you know the more likely you are to succeed. Better to learn this stuff now then the hard way & end up with many headaches & money down the toilet as most beginners usually do. I tried to list the most common mistakes & problems that beginners run into.

    Nano Reef Tank

(you're missing filtration which is the most important) Honestly it's much more affordable to buy an all in one like a biocube or nuvo. I think nuvo looks better than cubes do. If you're going to be doing fish+corals you're going to have to do either or a combination of these three... weekly to...

    Lighting

My nano cube uses a 16.5" compact florescent bulb. I want to use LEDs but not have to do ANY special modifications or installations. So, that's when I found this 15W LED Lamp - LED - Lamps/Bulbs » Do-it-yourself aquarium lighting It's basically a compact florescent bulb that has been retrofitted...

    Clown Fish Mating

It's the fact that I have one year 1/2 first ocellaris that's been by it's own & another larger male (male because it was co-existing & submitting with a 4 inch larger one) but my first clown submits occasionally & then frecently charges the larger one. It makes me think that my first is female...
