    Current Sattalite USA plus

the only way it would be high light is from a shallow tank under 6-7" of depth. At 12" of depth, your looking at about 36 PAR which is the low side of medium light. Pretty much what brian said, look into finnex or buildmyled

    Red cherry shrimp

for 4 bucks a pop, you can definitely buy WAY higher grade from local hobbyists or even buy online (online does have shipping which can hurt). RCS are pretty hardy shrimp, so traveling wise isn't too bad on them (if from online, most sellers will have a bit of java moss for them to hang on to)

My 10 gallon Red Cherry Shrimp Set Up

just sell them - they are a pretty high demand for assassin snails (about $4-5per here in vegas) I personally like watching them chase down snails.

temp is kind-of high for CRS - you want it around 21-23c. Might be why they didn't come out (shade = cooler temps) pulling out your hardscape is going to cause alot of havoc. I just did a rescape on my tank and TRUST ME - it's not fun pulling stuff out, cleaning and then resetting it. Your...

My 10 gallon Red Cherry Shrimp Set Up

assassin snails don't have the speed to catch a shrimp. if it's eating a shrimp, it's because it was already dead. good looking tank though, your RCS have a good grade to them

wow i actually thought diatoms came from too much light and too much nitrates. That's my bad vikkiog and aluka. (see, still learning haha) I don't think excel dosing is an issue (yes, i've heard those cases about excel) but also heard people gas-ing their fish with Co2. Too much of anything is...

Very new to crystal red shrimp!

hey we are all still learning (i'm no pro like tom barr) just had browning on my moss as well back in the day. This was from transition into new water parameters and over exposure to light (the moss in direct LED light browned while shaded moss were perfectly green). I suggest a water change...

Very new to crystal red shrimp!

brown algae (aka diatoms) is caused from too much light and/or nitrate. That moss looks like java moss (might be Taiwan or x-mas?) but all those types are low light plants which again browning could mean nutrient deficiency or too much light. Algae could be forming onto the moss and causing...

green dust algae? are you dosing enough potassium & phosphorus? Seems like the moss doesn't have enough nutrients so it can't grow. where green dust thrives in those conditions (having this issue right now actually)

Any good websited to buy fish fom

I would have to say aquabid on this one. If you live by cali, you can also look into aqua design innovations - they usually sell fauna but believe their stock is limited You can also go to your local fish store and see if they will custom order what you need

    Substrate and lighting question

Pretty much what Brian said for the Current Satellite, I personally did a review on it here http://www.redcherryshrimp.net/reviews/led-aquarium-lighting-reviews/current-usa-satellite-freshwater-led-review/ but if your looking for anything more than low-medium light than I would suggest waiting...
