What is the white thing growing on my star polyp? Can it be causing the polyp to die? I thought maybe it's a small sponge.

I noticed these today. Have no idea what they are. They move, have tentacles and look like snails without shells or slugs. We have 3 snails in the tank. Could they have reproduced? Thanks-jendiver09
