Thanks for advices. I turn light up for 9hrs a day. Yes, I did re-arrange plants and water became green within a day, that was fast. So far I haven't done anything, except water changed... If I cover the tank completely dark for 5 days as Corvuscorax said ..I think all the plants will be die...

    cloudy water

Hi all, My planted tank finished cycle 3 weeks ago, now water suddenly becomes cloudy. This is due to bacteria blooming ? There is no foods left over. No dead fishes in the tank. Water change 20% every week, 33 Gal. Thanks.

    Plants are dying...

Hi, It's better to buy fish/plant at LFS unless they don't have the kinds you want. Even at the big LFS as BigAls they don't have many varieties, especially plant. (Sigh)

    Question

Hi all, When the cycle finished, it's ok to add more fishes beyond maximum capacity ? For example, 40 inches of fishes in 30g. If more fishes are added, the cycle starts over again even I do frequently water change 30% per 2 weeks ? Thanks.

    Nitrogen cycle

I've just lost a catfish....hehehe..saw green-dark under his belly..not sure due to Nh3 thing or not enough O2 (I'm using Hagen CO2) because this fish is not active and stay around at the bottom. Other fishes (neons, angles, mollies, barbs, guppies, a SAE and a betta) look fine.

What is consider high light, medium light, etc.

I turn on the light at 11pm and off at 9am using timer offcourse, because I get home at 11pm everyday. That means the fishes "working" night shift...and sleep during the day...LOL. Is it ok for plants and fishes ?

    Nitrogen cycle

I think Ammo-lock converts NH3 to NH4, if still some left behind...taken up by plants ...whenever I see them breath heavily I do 50% water change right away.

    Nitrogen cycle

Hi, I used Ammo-lock when changed water. Now I run out of Ammo-lock, use Muti-purpose water conditioner from Big Al's store. pH = 7.6

    Nitrogen cycle

Hi loganj, I think the test kit (Aquarium Pharmaceutical) reading both Nh3(ammonia) and Nh4(ammonium, less toxic). It's amazing that the fishes breath normaly. Can't post picture because I don't have scaner. 30 g and up to 30 inches of fishes excluding tails.

    Nitrogen cycle

Hi, I'm using AP test kit, just brought... The ammonia reading was 7+ ppm but zero for nitrite....fishes breath normally. Feeding one a day. I added a few ml of product called "Cycle" everyday. I change 20% water every 3 days but the ammonia reading still too high. I'm afraid I'm losing some...

    Adding Fish

Hi all, Regarding to goldfish. Due to their round shape (more tissues more fleshes) which requires more Oxygen, I think they do well in cold water because more Oxygen dissolves in cold water. Therefore, as long as enough oxygen available (even in hot weather like summer) there's no problem.

    Activated Carbon

Hello, I have a planted aquarium with bio-wheel filter, I add liquid fertilizer every week but I'm afraid activated carbon in the filter will remove ions such as Fe, Zn, ..etc.. Any ideas ? Thanks.
