Oh and the breeding pair was an original plan but I have kinda gone off the idea almost and so they are effectively just adding feed to the tank. I had a platy that made it through last year but the rest I let in too early..

The tetras need space I agree. I like the red that's cool. I was looking at diamonhead tetra? Know anything about them? I have a Aquaone 40. It's really square so I am trying to fill that middle space. It's pretty eventless atm. I just put food in btw which is the white dots...

1 dwarf frog
4 kuhli loach
1 ruby shark
2 Congo tetra (rescued)
2 endlers guppy (breeding pair)
I have big fish and small fish. I am not sure how long the tetra will stay though because they are large for the tank. It's a cube as well rather than a long tank which is why (especially with the...
My aquarium has only really got a few fish that are on show consistently. I would love a little colourful shoal to brighten the tank and add a bit more movement to the picture. My tank is 55L and so I would like some small small fish.. Any suggestions?

Yeah she is done now so they are in with a single survivor of the last batch that were born in the tank accidentally. It's still small enough to be eaten but big enough I know it's a girl haha. They are too big for her to eat so they should be fine. Thanks for the advice
Hey everybody. My platy has given birth whilst I was at work and is still in the process of it. The fry are in a nursery and some are dead. Do they need feeding at all? Or can they not, and do not eat for a period of time?
Ahh that salt idea might work! I was going to do a full water change tomorrow. How long will i need to salt the water for because I don't have a fantastic quarantine for the frog...
Ok. It seems to be salt like and I have turned the heater up 2 degrees C. I heard that higher temperatures speed up the clearing process so I will look up possible treatments tomorrow Incase my diagnosis is accurate from descriptions I have been given. Thank you for the advice
I am having a little trouble with my fish atm. I have 4 platy and 1 of them has very quickly grown some white spots over its tail and sides. How do I know if it is ich or if it's fungus and is there a good quick treatment? I have heard about temperature change but I don't want any more infected...
I have has this African dwarf frog for 2 days now. I am slightly worried about it because it is relatively small and just hides all the time. I haven't seen it eat yet but I haven't seen much of it at all. When it comes out for air it seems to go half way to the surface before retreating to the...
Thanks for the advice. There is a great deal on API test kits at my local shop atm. I will happily do daily water changes as I am still very eager to look after my fish tank anyway I can. like a 5 year old with a new toy :P
Ok thanks for the advice. I was going to get more hardy fish to start with like platys yes. I will do some research tonight on plants and see what's what. Thanks for your advice. Greatly appreciated
Well I am very new to aquariums and I was told that for now strips will do the job of testing when i went to get tester kits at the shop today. The tester strips told me everything was safe. I will probably get a better test kit eventually. So do you believe I can add a couple of fish now...
I have had the tank a week tomorrow. I have let it cycle since last Wednesday and i can't see a reason why not to add fish. I know you can have fish in the cycle and should add them slowly but I was wondering whether a week is too short a period of time for the tank to be cycled. I have tester...
Hello. I am very new to aquariums but I did see a picture on this forum today which was of a tank with a large bit of driftwood on one side with plants and just a few plants on the other side. To me it looked very nice and resembled a root underwater meeting open water is the best way to...
Well tbh now I am not too sure that the advise I was given in the shop was that good. I have looked after the schools fish tank. But it was just goldfish. I bought the aquarium at a shop with a small bottle of water conditioner and was told to let it cycle for a week or so and they will test it...
Thank you this is very useful. I will make sure to buy a tester kit tomorrow when I get my water tested as a local shop will do it free. I will try a few fish first.
Ok we'll I'm English but I don't know why the units would be different. Would invertebrates possible he better with the fish like snails or shrimp to help keep the tank in decent condition while the tank is maturing or does it not really matter? As much as I research it, seems I'm getting the...
