    Labidochromis vs Haplochromis?

Haps (Haplochromis) Haps, for want of a better name, are basically a non-Mbuna flock that are informally called Haps because many of these fish once belonged to the broad genus Haplochromis Hilgendorf. Two different types of cichlids with different requirements but can live together if you do...

thanks, with this new rockery layout my mbuna have been very highly sexual active lmao all the nooks and crannies being utilised I guess haha :) I'm constantly rescaping every time I do a water change which is sometimes frustrating as you will love the scape one week then need to catch some...

Quality filter mate. I've had mine running now for a couple of weeks. Best on the market for sure. Just not the cheapest.

    Opinions on the Fluval FX6

Hi, ive decided to purchase the fx6 this weekend and would like to know what you guys think of it, preferably someone who is using one atm or have had one in the past? I will be using the fx6 as my primary filter for my mbuna tank (55g) and i know this is overkill but within a month or so my...

Beginner - 60g Mbuna African Cichlid Tank

Spot on with your equipment. I have syno petricola, if I remember rightly. I would go with sand as mbuna love sifting through it but gravel seems more entertaining to watch when they make their holes for territory etc... limestone rocks are great for decoration. I have a fake planted area with...

Eheim filters are really reliable and will last you forever :) can't go wrong with eheim. I'm just about to pick up the fx6 next week :) I will then have enough filtration for my planned 6ft tank which is gonna be awesome. Have a group of three and maybe add rainbow/red tail shark to the three...

Beginner - 60g Mbuna African Cichlid Tank

I would add them first. Won't he a problem. They are many syno available. I have the petricola. Suggested to be in a group of three however I know they will be okay if they are on their own in the tank.

Beginner - 60g Mbuna African Cichlid Tank

Synodontis. They are ideal tank mates for cichlids. Often shy in the daytime but great personality. Rather rare to find in England as they are hard to breed. I think my breeder has bred 5 in 3 years or something like that. But Yeh check out syno catfish :) bristlenose should be okay too but its...

Time for a change... Livebearer to Cichlid Tank Advice

I thought that maybe the case. Currently I have two externals with one having a spray bar and venturi pipe which does well but with two power heads aiming at my intake pipes surely will improve things, correct? What would I use power heads or wave makers?

Update :) Really happy with these fish, adding 4 Estherae to add orange to my tank as i will have 1male3female maybe 4. What you think on my tank now? Rockery is against my glass and they is no way it can move. Solid. I will however have a new aquascape once i and the fish become bored.

Time for a change... Livebearer to Cichlid Tank Advice

I live in england and the aquarists around these parts keep cichlids between 7.4 and 8.2 but we dont allow the constant change of ph as people have had incidents which the fish didnt like the change and started to die off. If holey rock/limestone/crushed coral can permanently increase my ph then...

Time for a change... Livebearer to Cichlid Tank Advice

Currently my water tests are spot on, PH is at 7.6 but i know that cichlids dont like frequent ph changes so id rather stick to my natural ph in my tap water. I like your type of suggested species, i will look into them and do some research over the next few days. :thanks:
