I changed the tank water about 50% last Monday. And I don't have a test kit of my own and won't be able to get to Petco for a while. How can help him recover if possible and is it contagious to other fish?

Usually about 20-40%, but every other change I do 50%

I leave the lights on from usually about 10 to 6 I clean the tank every three weeks

My tank is about a year old and I've had this problem earlier but didn't really do anything to prevent it. I've got algae everywhere, my sand, (fake) plants, rocks, caves... It just won't go away. I've tried scrubbing it with those dish scrubbers but the plants just end up falling apart...

The loach is a dojo loach (I'm 99.9% sure) and the catfish are not the ones that grow to two feet. I make sure all my fish are compatible every time I go to the pet store. I will try the water change although I did a 25% one two days ago Loach and the catfish
