What is this crab on my cucumber?

I picked him and threw him in the sump. He is a pretty cool looking bugger, still don't know what he is for sure. He doesn't move around too much, but hasn't been there long. Mr X I may be interested in moving him, but I am in MT and I think quite a ways away from you!

    Aiptasia?

It was in a bag of macro algae that I got. I am sure I will have more some day! I gently picked it out of the clump. Here's hoping.

    65 Gallon Reef Build

Well, today is the day for a 60 gallon water change. I have 30 gallons of new salt water circulating , will start the drain down and clean up as soon as the rest is mixing. This will provide a good chance to rearrange my rocks for good, remove some particulate, and get ready for the clean up...

    65 Gallon Reef Build

So, decided I didn't like the rock, moved it, still not 100% happy, but it is definitely better. I have been tested the water hoping for the cycle to happen, but haven't seen much action. Ammonia did go up to .5 on the first, I would think that would have spiked higher. All others stayed...

    65 Gallon Reef Build

The shrimp has more or less disintegrated, ammonia is up a little, the rest of the parameters are pretty good! What is the next step? There are some little twig like algae growing on some of my live rock, not sure what it is.

    65 Gallon Reef Build

So, sand is in, rocks are set, water is flowing and a half of a shrimp swam down to the bottom and disappeared into the milky water.. Water was pretty cloudy when I set it all up, but after about three hours it cleaned up quite a bit! Can't wait to get up tomorrow and check the temp and...

    65 Gallon Reef Build

Merry Christmas every one! I have the tank plumbed and freshwater in it for testing and clean up. All seems to be working pretty well, but is a little loud from the overflow going into the sump, and a little from the return pump. Going to try to quiet that down a little bit! Here are some...

A quick update: I have built the base for the display tank, siliconed the sump partitions, and collected all of the plumbing parts. Hope to have flowing water by tomorrow! Then to test and measure water drops and etc. then on to ro and salt mix. . Construction Display base with the sump tank...

    65 Gallon Reef Build

Ok. Here I go. I have been lurking around for a few months, thinking about doing a build and have decided (with the consent of the wife) to make the commitment to build a 65 gallon reef tank. I am fairly experienced with freshwater, we have a good local fish shop, and I am excited to get...

    New to the salt world

Thanks for the information! I am headed out to the local fish guy today to get things finalized and do some of the ground work. The tank is 36 wide x 24 tall and 18 deep I'll have to make sure on the pump size I may have been incorrect or he may have been thinking of something else to be...

    New to the salt world

Well, here I go! I have collected a tank that will fit the space I have, I am going to build the frame work, cut a hole in the wall and build my sump, I may buy my live rock and sand, to start the cycle and then build the sump and plumb it up later. Is that a good way to go? Any advice is much...

    RO systems

I will be pumping into a trash can for my water changes. It will be plumbed to overflow into the drain for the ro system, so no flood, just wasted water! I am thinking I should put the di unit in front of the tank, with a tee so that the di water does not get into the ro tank thoughts? Also...

    RO systems

I am getting ready to build 130gallon system (65 gal DT) and am trying to wrap my head around the ro system and how it will function. I currently have a hague RO drinking water system and it is located in the same room all of my equipment will be in. That's good, now for the questions. Do I...

    New to the salt world

Hello all! I am a fairly experienced former freshwater tank owner, interested in building a saltwater coral and fish system. Living in Montana I am finding the web to be a wealth of information, as we'll as a wealth of confusion! I am trying to make a go of this on a very limited budget, don't...
