The commet in the picture was kept in a tiny slime infested bowl for 6 years by the mrs. She never once cleaned him out and used to let the water drop to almost his body height. When i came along i used it as an excuse to get a 300ltr tank. And he had a better quality of life for the next...

So will be here on thursday morning.
I will keep the 50% cycles going.
So many people keep tiny bowls for goldfish never clean them just top up the water and they never get issues just doesnt seam fair
50% every day at the momment on the tank. I use AquaCare water conditioner
Nutrafin cycle
For the fin rot i use
Interpet anti fungus and finrot
Since i been doing the treatments the weather loaches have been like this but i assure u he is very much alive
The rest of the fish...
The fish died
I did a 80% change and then 50% a day since
All the fish are ok if acting a bit doped up.
I am day 4 into the treatment of the fish. The weather loaches are just floating round the tank but when i check on them they start swimming about fine.
I added the plants...
Yeah
The first one to show issues
Then it was fine for a week
So i changed the tank from plastics
To. As i am hoping the plants will help with the water.
I got a 2000 ltr hour bio filter no carbon
And the largest bubble pump i could get
Mix of large and small gravel and i do siphon the tank but the gravel cleaner i got doesnt cut the mustard. Hence why i have added plants.
Will order a liqud test kit.
Its a 300 ltr tank or 65 gallon. It seams to be settling down in there since i added the plants i turned...
Added 30 plants to the tank now and turned the bubble curtain off to keep the co2 for the plants.
Thinking the high poo levels a goldfish produces will keep the plants happy and the co2 also.
I have kept the machanical and bio filteration going but without carbon.
I changed the lighting...
Hi
First thanks for all the advice so far.
I had a tank where fin rot was really bad and finally got a set of strip water test kit.
No3 = 0
No2 = 0
Gh = 16d
Kh = 20d
Ph = 7.2
Cl2 = 0
I added some live planets in the case the fish seam a bit dopped up while i am using the finrot meds to...
I think i know what the issue is going to be. The tank has large and small gravel and the vacum i use doesnt cut it. Upon filling the tank up i used a hose turned on full and found the deeper sections of gravel to be full of fish poo. The tank has a 2000ltr hr external pump but its...
Yeah uk where everything is regulated by the gov.
I need to do a 50% change today and do the meds.
2 weeks ago new fish were added after what i though was the fault of the algea eaters my mrs got from pets at home.
This is the treatment i am using as its safe to mix in multi treatments together

Well i removed all carbon and added extra ceramic and bio balls to the filter and did another 25% water change. I added 60ml of fin rot and anti fungus 10ml per 50 ltr but poor "vampire" died 10 min ago. Really gutted. Its def fin rot as i spotted in time another fish with it round his...
No i have a few it only effects one fish at a time never more than 1. As i lost a few like this.
I am wondering if there is a parasidic organisum in the tank as every other fish is healthy.
If i do 80% water changes before i put the meds in will this improve. Then 80% and re med every day. I got extra ceramics for the pump and extra bio balls as well
I drained the tank 80% its a 300ltr.
I used meds but i got a 2000ltr hr external filter and forgot the carbon and need more meds. Will remove carbon tomorrow and re med the water.
I just dont get how this only effects one fish at a time.
My ex wife just stopped me access to the kids...
actually gutted as i had my gold fan tail for a few years and was tiny when i got him. To see him with no fins and in that state was really upsetting. Glad to be rid of them algea eaters now they deserved to be flushed. Worse thing is pets at home are telling people they need a few of...
Do not put them in with other placid fish
Came down this morning and my fancy fan tail and commt and 8 minnows had been stripped down to the bone.
Minnows had heads bitten off and my commet and fan tail had no fish and loads of scales had been removed. I fish all the time and it...
The 2000ltr hour pump has been on a few hours now so the entire tank should have been pulled through the filter several times by now.
I disturbed all the gravel to really stir up the tank water and the pump has pretty much cleared the water now. I set the current so it bounces around the...
Waters about 18°c and i have 6 of them in a community have a feeling gonna have to get rid even tho i have not a spot of alge in the tank and they have grown pretty quick
