Thanks. While both were rinsed, I was guessing the same. The muck was brown tho, and neither of these products are brown. My only other additional guess is from the gravel, which was from when I had a tank 8ish years ago. It wasn't rinsed when putting back in the tank this time round ?

The reason I was curious because with my fish plan, aqadvisor says I need more filtration. So instead of buying something like an in-tank filter, I thought, why not add bio balls to the Mix Max? Would this work?

Can you add bio balls to the mix max CO2 Reactor without any negative side effects? Mine is currently inside my tank being run by a circulation pump. Wouldn't this add more bio filtration? Or does the bacteria not like CO2? Sent from my mobile aquarium device
