Females tend to have pinker bellies than the males and males tend to have more of a yellow belly (excuse the pun) also appear a lot more colourful once matured and settled in! Always struggled keeping these fish as they are extremely sensitive to change best of Luck brother

It depends how many fish your wanting to add having a higher level will allow you to add more Fish once the cycle is complete however letting it Go to high will crash the cycle, I recommend keeping it between 2ppm and 4ppm keeping to the lower Side of that

What are your readings? With a fish less cycle it's not as important to do water changes because there's no chance of killing fish however you don't want to let your ammonia etc get to high as it will kill your beneficial bacteria

Dependant on your water parameters wether it's fish less or fish in etc, buy yourself a test kit then you can change your water according to that lots of ammonia present = bigger water change

Thanks guys, does anyone have a clue of the breed of the first two pictures ive put up? im thinking of eventually adding some female Boesmanis, but i will rearrange everything as advised. Will some Cory cats do ok in this set up as a clean up crew?

I've had this problem so many times with rams, they get rapid gill movement, stop eating, all there colours become really defined then they swell up like a balloon and die, I wish you the best of luck my friend this is the reason I stopped keeping these beautiful fish.
