Dwarf Baby Tears Carpeting trick, maybe?

Well it's the best I can do. I just learned about DSM. It's the same thing as someone ordering a plant and putting it in their tank. I'm just growing it in a separate tank is all. If I have trouble transplanting it, I'll just turn my QT into another tank and buy another tank for QT.

Dwarf Baby Tears Carpeting trick, maybe?

I think I'm going to do the dry start method in my QT tank as long as I don't need it for any fish. Then I'll transplant it to my main aquarium. Thanks all!

Dwarf Baby Tears Carpeting trick, maybe?

Ill try the mesh and take pictures of before and after. Thanks for the advice! Just real quick, what kind of mesh should I use? Is there a special aquarium safe growing mesh? Or can I use anything as long as its not (insert condition here)?

Planted tank, Ich on rainbows and Cory's

I dosed to approx 2 tbsp per 5 gallon. Then slowly got rid of the salt with water changes. The cories seemed to be fine with it. Their behavior did not change noticeably. Sorry for the delay in replying.

Dwarf Baby Tears Carpeting trick, maybe?

Okay so heres the deal. I bought a small 2 inch pot of baby tears a few months ago and my cory's have pretty much torn it all up except for a small patch about 1/2 inch in diameter. I have T5 HO 110W 6500k and 10000k (1 bulb each) lighting. I bought dry ferts and they should be coming Tuesday...

    Help treating ich

You are correct. The parasite can be present in the tank after the ich is visibly gone. Some articles say continue treatment for 5 days, some 10 days, some 14 days. Most recommended temperatures say to go anywhere from 82 to 86 or higher. I do know that the lower your temp, the longer you should...

    Help treating ich

I have 5 cory's as well, they may not like it but they are doing just fine now. Maybe I just got lucky I guess but I'd rather stress the cory's a little bit and get rid of the ich than not treat it enough and lose everything. I see why you wouldn't want to use salt though.

    Aquaponics!

I was wondering if anyone here has an aquaponics system or has had experience with one in the past. Particularly DIY aquaponics. I currently have a 55 gallon planted freshwater aquarium so aquaponics sounds like cake to me. The only problem I have is all the aquaponics systems ive seen are super...

    help with ich please!!!

Sorry to hear about your ich outbreak. Ich is definitely best caught treating as early as detected. I recently had an ich outbreak. I treated it by cranking up my heater as far as it would go (86 degrees) and putting 20 tablespoons of salt in my 55 gallon aquarium (or 2 tablespoons per 5...

Sorry to hear about your loss. Ich is definitely best caught treating as early as detected. I recently had an ich outbreak. I treated it by cranking up my heater as far as it would go and putting 20 tablespoons of salt in my 55 gallon aquarium (or 2 tablespoons per 5 gallons approximately). It...

Anybody live in the Trenton,Nj area?

Philly here. New to the hobby so I dont have much to offer. However I have a 55 gallon freshwater planted tank so if you have freshwater planted, we might be able to trade trimmings or some such things.

Planted tank, Ich on rainbows and Cory's

Plants are actually still growing. Well the baby tears are that is. So far no negative effects on the plants. Even if there are, i prefer the fish over plants lol.

Planted tank, Ich on rainbows and Cory's

So I'm not really here for advice so much as to share a little triumph with my sick fish. Currently have a freshwater planted 55g tank with 5 Bosemani Rainbows and 5 Cory cats and lots of snails. I found ich on the rainbows 4 days ago and started my treatment with salt and heat. I put 20...

Most annoying things in fish keeping!?

Yesterday, I did a waterchange using a syphon and the tried and true method of sucking the air out of the hose partially until water will run down and gravity takes over. Well yesterday, all was well until I delayed removing my mouth from the end of the tube and ended up choking on water for the...

Will this help my nitrate levels??

With my limited experience and knowledge of aquariums and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, yes, it is okay to do a 50 percent water change to bring down nitrates. As far as I know, its the main way to bring down nitrate levels.

    Stocking Qustion-Fish that require current.

I am currently cycling a 55 gal long tank and daydreaming about fish and looking up pretty much any species of animal that live in water. I remembered I have a pump laying around from an abandoned project and realized I could actually use it to create current for fish that require them. I really...

Lets play, "Is my Coralife light fixture wired in series or parallel?

Okie dokie, will do. Ya I know its a weird thing to ask because most people don't go around having 1 light bulb in a fixture that has space for 2. The replacement bulb is on its way from the vendor. It will just be about a week before it gets here and I am afraid that when the replacement bulb...

Lets play, "Is my Coralife light fixture wired in series or parallel?

Ooo, I'm sorry, that is not the answer we were looking for. I can barely operate a toaster, I don't think I could safely stick wires places without severe bodily harm.

Lets play "Can you identify my heater?"

Ya it really doesnt look like it twists. I just tried to twist it as hard as i could but it didnt budge. I was hoping someone on here might own one of these and might be able to tell me how to operate it? Or someone who has had something like this?
  25. A

Lets play "Can you identify my heater?"

It looks like the part that looks like it might twist is sealed to the base. Its kinda hard to see. I might be wrong. Ill take a look at it but it doesn't really look like it is meant to twist.
