Ok I will try it. I just soaked mine then bleached then soaked again then baked them. I figured it would kill everything. What are you looking for with the vinegar?

    acid test for natural rock?

What is this and why do you do it? I have an almost unlimited supply of free rock all over my county and have used some in my tank. I sterilized it but now I'm worried.

How do you do an acid test for metal and why? I also have lots of beautiful rock available all around me. Didn't know about a test though ...

jack dempsey getting enough to eat?

Yea they are characters. Just to let you know if you have a plastic lid you might want to weight it down. My friend lost her Oscar when he jumped out when the lid was closed! Just popped right through I guess. They are strong!

Put something heavy on the lid. I have a pretty rock on mine. They are curious and always looking for food especially when they are young :)

But really glass aquarium building is very simple in how it goes together. Acrylic is a little more complicated in that you need more tools.

I know its a little scary. I think I'm going to practice with a smaller one and work my way up. Put it outside on my balcony before filling in the house :)

They are in a 55. Just something not too expensive to hold them while I learn how to build one. I love building stuff and it doesn't seem too complicated.

I'm happy too. I'm contemplating building them a tank. Been researching it online. Cause they are gonna need more space soon.

jack dempsey getting enough to eat?

I had two tiger Oscars many years ago. Had them for about 2 years till I went on vacation and the person taking care of them didn't. I was heartbroken and gave away the tank and everything. I'm excited to try again though and learning a lot.

The sinking pellets are working great. Little Jd still doesn't eat as much as piggy oscar but at least he's not stuck with leftovers lol. And I don't have to overfeed.

jack dempsey getting enough to eat?

Thanks! I noticed he was eating the ones that the piggy oscar was spitting out. I was overfeeding a bit to try to get him some. I'll buy some sinking pellets today.

jack dempsey getting enough to eat?

Yea I know I'll need a bigger tank. They are only 2 inches long right now so I've got a few months before they get too big. Thanks.

jack dempsey getting enough to eat?

Yes. The Oscar is just a voracious eater and the Jack is a little timid. He likes to stay toward the bottom.

I have a Jack Dempsey and Oscar.both are about 2 inches long and get along fairly well but the Oscar eats all the food! I'm worried he will outgrow the j.d. and I'll have issues. Any ideas? Oh 55 gal tank. Thanks
