I have two female bettas, two golden swords, a hi-fin platy, redtail black shark, and a golden algae eater in my 10 gallon... my one female had no idea what the shark was so she would constantly flare at him. But now they co-exist really well... They do enjoy the company of others... and same...

its kind of hard to say with that... did they have any fungus or anything unsusual on their bodies before they died? it sounds like mostly that the water was just either too cold for them, or the sitting water created a film on the surface preventing them from getting air... Or it couldve...

Alright... the reason why I was asking is that i lost my pH chart, so I had no idea what mine was at. It is at 8.0 which apparently is fine... but just incase i get a wierd drop or increase in pH (which i doubt) I bought a buffer, which is a powder to keep the pH consistant at 8.3.

So I take it my reading is perfectly fine??? Or is it a little on the low side?

is it a newer tank??? I dont know if this goes the same with SW tanks.. but when you first start off a tank and if you accidently feed too much within the first few weeks.. theres always a nitrate spike...

Yeaahhh.. smelling is a definite way of telling whether or not theyre alive... god... i had to clean out the dead ones at work... never again will i do that... another thing i notice with dead snails, is that the FW snails tend to float when they're dead.... if your snails are just sitting on...

Hey good news everyone!!!! I bought some ghost shrimp.. and holy cow.. he's eaten all the ones ive put in the tank... so i figure.. ill start putting some frozen brine shrimp in thetank as well later on tonight and see how he reacts to that... thanks everyone for helping me... - Lauren - vTEC

just my luck that my lionfish is a DWARF... its no biggie getting him feeder guppies, or ghost shrimp.. i work at an Aquarium... so my feeders are free... and all my fish are 25% off... im going to try him on a variety of different stuff to see what he likes best... i can get frozen saltwater...

ich should be treated maybe up to a week after the white spots arent seen anymore. just for safe measures.. once a fish has gotten ich, and from experience, that fish is usually more prone to it..
