Dead Panda Cory with red spots on belly and sides

Quick status - I did get some additional plants (anacharis) and I orders some mangrove online. I researched RO systems and RO water.... sorry, I'm not "into it" that much and I do not have the support of my wife in this hobby. Sooooo.... As well, I contacted my water company (Aqua America)...

Ok - here is the water today with the tap water on the side. Thoughts? I did buy the prime. I did a 50-60% wc yesterday evening.

Dead Panda Cory with red spots on belly and sides

ok - 60% WC just completed. Was out getting Prime and, unfortunately, came back and 1 guppy and 1 more panda have passed. The panda had snails on him and no fins left. I did not take a picture. No red marks. <sigh>

Dead Panda Cory with red spots on belly and sides

Hello - this morning I found 1 of my 7 Panda Cory's dead, near the surface, among a small amount of water lettuce. I have attached a few images of the Panda Cory as well as my water results from this morning. This is how I interpret them: pH: 7.4 Ammonia:0 Nitrite:0 Nitrate: 30-40 (there is...

    Fishless cycling question

Water change. Your pH dropped from 7.4 to 6. That's HUGE (and not good). You must have a very low KH which simply means your 'buffers' are rather weak to begin with making the 'fight' against pH changes difficult. A high or strong kH keeps pH 'in place' easier and less susceptible to...

...here is a clue, but maybe I'm racing, one of the guppies gave birth. I cannot see the fry in my plants. Is it possible this one ate too much? Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Just waiting for my new fish to arrive (drip setup)

Unfortunately, when I got home from work today, I found one of the male boesemani rainbow fish dead on the bottom. Everyone else seems fine. Water is fine. So I dunno.. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Interpreting KH and GH results - API test kit

understand. I think i'll just go with the more frequent water changes and I'll test my tap water for kH and GH just to see what those are.

Is molly about to give birth

I'll be interested to see/hear what happens as well. I have guppies in the same situation and don't know if I should add salt ( I have a lot of live 'hardy' plants and I'm a newbie). -GD007 aka.I kill plants..

Interpreting KH and GH results - API test kit

Great reply - thank you! I like 'natural' methods versus adding chemicals. Are you aware if there anything I can add to the tank, like a certain rock or plants or less bubbles or less plants... versus adding a chemical to raise the kH? Thanks, -GD007

Interpreting KH and GH results - API test kit

Hello, I recently purchase the KH & GH testing solutions to enhance the API Freshwater Master Kit I already own. I am having a hard time understanding the differences given I have a wide range between KH & GH. Here are my results: KH - took 3 drops (including drop#1) to turn yellow. Do I...

Just waiting for my new fish to arrive (drip setup)

Thanks Herky213 and everyone else. Update: 1 additional female Boesemani died this AM. Bringing the death total to 3 fish - 2 female Boesemani and 1 Panda Cory. We went, as a family, to That Fish Place (about an hour and 30mins away) and I had all 3 fish credited. They confirmed all my water...

Just waiting for my new fish to arrive (drip setup)

ok well so far so good (1105pm). I do notice that the bottom lip on 2 of the rainbows (m & f) has a white spot. I've been googling and it seems 'normal' due to the bumping and such. 50% wc is recommended. my stats are remain: temp 80 pH: 7.4 Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 20-40 soooo... we'll see.

Now that they've settled in I can clearly tell I have 2 males and 3 females boesemanis. I had to research a bit because I thought, perhaps, they didn't send me boesemanis ;-) [duh <-- new user] As for the Panda's - no clue...
