That's what I assumed. They were impossible to find when I first put them in, then they moved up to that corner. The only time they move now is when I walk around to that side of the tank and then they slide over a few inches and turn the other way. They are pretty small too, maybe 1.5".

I just did some checking on the Seattle public utillities site and in the 2004 report they listed tests of drinking water. The pH was from 7.8-8.7 and the hardness was 30ppm (or 1.7 grains/gallon) and the Alkilinity at 20 ppm. That looks almost exactly like what I'm getting.

It's the Aquarium Paharmicuticals kit. I bought the master test kit online and then realized it didn't have a KH test so I bought that locally.

If you already have a digital camera you may want to see if there is a waterproof housing made for it. A lot of manufacturers have them for their more popular models.

Maybe I need to get a new test kit because I thought the same thing. I got the KH one from a LFS and I don't really know how long it has been sitting around. I've done the test twice each on both tank and tap water with the same results each time.
