I have a Marineland Penguin 200 filter. The BioWheel, which is supposed to contain the helpful bacteria, has stopped spinning. I cleaned away algae/buildup from around the wheel and the two cradles its arms sit in. No luck, it's still not spinning. Any ideas? :thanks:

Yeah, I have two Bolivian rams in with my tiger barbs. They completely ignore each other. The rams do sometimes fight each other, though.

Once they're just eating off of algae wafers and veggies, will they still poop as much?

I picked up two small, BN plecos to help with an algae problem. In two days, they've eaten all the algae and covered the sand with poop! I mean, it's everywhere. Are they just dirty little fellas, or what? :blink:

Also, if I do get a BN pleco again, which algae wafers are best? I got some before that just turned to mush in a few hours.

Tank has been set up about 10 weeks. I do leave the lights on too long. Would a bristlenose pleco eat brown algae? I had one a few weeks ago for about two days before the little guy up and disappeared. I have driftwood.

Hard to acclimate? Are they sensitive? I'm pretty new to the aquarium scene.

I've got an outbreak of brown algae...It's on the glass and the decorations, including the silk plants. Will anything eat this, or do I just need to clean it off? :thanks:

I have a 36-gallon bowfront with a Marineland Penguin 200 filter. I have one BA tetra (left over from an unfortunate chlorine poisoning incident that killed the rest of the school), 9 Tiger Barbs, and 2 Bolivian Rams. According to AqAdvisor, I can fit in 4 Cory Cats and not be overstocked...

I've got one of those filters that has the one-piece cartridge you're supposed to replace every few weeks. If I do this, will I be getting rid of a beneficial bacterial colony? If I don't, will the filter be too dirty to work? Thanks!

These rams have relatively short fins and hang out at the bottom of the tank. :)

Yes, put the Prime in right away. The one tetra that was swimming at the top seems OK now, as does the other tetra. And the rams still seem fine. We're adding water to our 36 gallon tank about two gallons at a time, from a bucket. Should we put the conditioner in before we start adding the...

I don't know their sex. They've been getting along fine...The tetras don't look injured.

Tonight, my wife and I did a 25% water change, as we do weekly. About an hour later, we noticed that six of our eight Buenos Aires tetras were dead. Another is swimming around the top of the tank. The two Bolivian rams seem fine. We realized that we forgot to add Prime after the change. I...

OK, I'll give that a try. They are SO aggressive, though.

I have eight Buenos Aires tetras and two Bolivian rams. The rams don't stand a chance of eating flake food at the top, the BA's are too aggressive. The rams also don't seem to have any interest in the pellets I've been giving them. What's worse, the BA's have now been eating the pellets on...

Ah, OK, don't want to do that. Four would put me at 100% capacity per AqAdvisor.

Finally, is it OK to just get two?
