What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

Haha I definitely want to give my fishes plenty of room and keep them happy :fish2: I have a 75 long so I think they'll be comfortable. :thumb: I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I'm in no rush though lol. I will post an update with my tank stocking. Thanks for all the input!

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

What size tank do you have? From what I'm gathering in this thread, they seem to be less nippy and more peaceful in larger 3-4 foot aquariums.

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

I've been reading they like colder water (64-71), is this true? If so, could they be kept in 75 degree water? 75 would be a happy medium with the other troical fish.

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

I'm thinking I would add the tiger barbs last, I'm thinking this would help with the aggression bit. I'm still weighing up my options, does anyone know of any fish with the personality of tiger barbs but without the nippiness?

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

Are the Cory's still active in the tiger tank? 5 days is a proof of concept that it could work but not necessarily proof in itself. Still very interesting though. I might give it a shot, I'll just make sure to have a backup tank just in case. Beautiful tank by the way

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

All my fish would be purchased as juveniles. They said butterflyfish could be between 1 and 3 inches. What conditions can I replicate to make sure everyone gets along? Is there anything in particular you guys are doing? Large shoals, type of plants, etc? I've read butterflyfish are top...

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

This was the response I was secretly hoping I'd get :D. How long were they in the tank together? Did you add the angels or barbs first? Were/are they juveniles? All research suggests that the large shoals makes this species compatible. This post gave me hope I can have my tank lol.

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

Would they be as active and entertaining as the tigers? It was more the personality of the tigers that drew me in. I read that they constantly jockey each other and hustle around the tank. I imagine some of that feistiness would be lost with the snakeskin or hexagons.

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

That's a bummer :( lol kinda had my heart set on both the African butterfly and the tiger barbs because they are so active. Any chance I could make it work or should I not even try it? If not, anyone have suggestions for really active and or dither fish?

What is your personal experience with Tiger Barbs in a large shoal?

I want to know what your PERSONAL experience with these fish has been. According to all my research, large shoals should reduce aggression and nipping. But, all lfs tell it's not a good idea to put them with a lot of fish. What was your experience keeping them with ram cichlids, tetras, etc...

What should I put in my 75 gallon planted?

I figured it would be. They said gars get about 8-10". Maybe juvenile gars but I'm probably stretching. I would buy a second tank if I wasn't already about $200 over budget  Trying to work with what I have.

What should I put in my 75 gallon planted?

I'm liking the idea of a biotope. I read this so I'm thinking about some kind of setup like this. Really seems like the best of both. Active schooling fish that eat other fish lol.The article says you can keep them with Nanus catfish, otos, red eyes, and fire tetras. So I'm thinking some...

What's the difference between the Fluval G3 and Model 306?

I have the G3 because I got it cheap with my whole setup. My question is would it be worth it to buy it new (if I ever need to buy a new filter)? Or just go with the regular Model 306? I know the G3 has the LCD display and measures temperature and conductivity. But is there an actual difference...

What should I put in my 75 gallon planted?

Tank #1 was my original idea, really liked the barbs. But now that I've seen the predator fish I really really liked them too, I was hoping I could incorporate them somehow. My ideal would be barbs, gars, loaches, rams, and maybe one other kind of cichlid... I have no idea if that would ever...

What should I put in my 75 gallon planted?

I know another one of these posts lol. I want something interesting to go in there. Interesting could be a really active community or unique fish with personality idc lol. Tank currently has a Fluval G3 filter, 250w Aqueon Pro heater, and may possibly inject co2 but not yet. I haven't tested...
