I just realized that my hot water has a PH of 8, compared to 7.4 in cold water It raises the ph a bit every time I do a water change with some hot water Should I only use my cold water to do water changes from now on? ( I would let it warm up to room temperature before putting it in the tank)...

Is it safe to use softened well water? I've been using treated tap water but need to transport it every time. Or should I bypass the softener? My well water is known to have some iron in it There is no ammonia, nitrites or nitrates and Ph is around 7.4 Thanks
