    In fish cycle

He is not looking well at all even though I have managed to get the ammonia down. Black gills, heavy breathing, pine coning, not eating unless i use tweezers to put food near his mouth, popeye. The pine coning says to me that his kidneys are failing, classic dropsy. Im not sure what else can...

Ammonia spike in established tank please help

Thanks for everyone's replies. I think I will ditch the Quick Start and stick to daily water changes and water conditioner. That is all. Ill let the cycle happen naturally, trying to speed it up with chemicals is adding stress. What do you think about stress coat? This product is supposed to...

Seachem Neutral Regulator for Fish-In Cycle

Has anyone successfully used the water conditioner 'Neutral Regulator' by Seachem to successfully cycle their tank? It says that it 'removes' ammonia but is this really 'removing' or just making it 'less toxic'... how do I really know? Can anyone recommend water conditioners that are good for...

    In fish cycle

Hi Caleb, Thanks for your reply. I have been doing 50-90 per cent daily water changes, depending on the ammonia level. I had to cycle the tank again because (i believe) medication (triple sulfa) killed the beneficial bacteria in my filter.

    In fish cycle

Ammonia spiked to 3ppm, noticed betta was lethargic, losing appetite and slightly pine-coning. Showing classic signs of ammonia poisoning. I did a 90 percent water change and that brought the ammonia down to 0ppm. My tank is now in the process of cycling with fish in the tank. LAst time i...

Has anyone used API cycle quick start? (I accidentally killed my beneficial bacteria)

Basically, what happened was I medicated my tank with Triple Sulfa from API and it has caused my beneficial bacteria to die causing ammonia spikes of 1-2ppm. I thought I was doing good for my fish (a few had some white stuff on them) but I have now caused stressful ammonia levels and the fish...

Ammonia spike in established tank please help

Hi I can find Seachem where I live (Australia) I am using API master test kit. I had 0 readings for nitrite. Ammonia is 1-2ppm. Fish are still swimming around frantically. Betta is laying on the bottom and breathing heavily. Sadly, no one I know has fish besides me. Theyre all dogs and cat...

Ammonia spike in established tank please help

How much water change should I do daily? ive been doing 25 per cent and it does not make much difference in the ammonia levels. I feel like if i do 50 per cent daily this will put me back to square one (re cycling the tank). Im thinking I just let my tank go through its mini cycle because if im...

Ammonia spike in established tank please help

Hi I noticed my betta was becoming really lethargic, he hadnt eaten in 2 days which is extremely weird for him. My cories were swimming all over the place, they seemed stressed out. I tested my water and the ammonia tube turned a bright green colour (1-2ppm). My tank has been running for a good...

    Cotton mouth

Hi AA community, I believe my little neon has developed cotton mouth. I have never had a disease in my tank before so i am fairly new to treating diesases. I did some research and i am certain he has it. I went out and brought some tri sulfa and melafix. I have taken out ordaments and got my...

How old do Bristlenose Pleco fry have to be before I sell/give them away?

I currently have about 15-20 brittlenose albino pleco fry in my aquarium. My tank is way to small to hold all of these babies so I would like to give them away asap. Does anyone know the appropriate age at which i can do so? Right now they are very small and are translucent. They are all...

My plecos had babies. What do I do?

I really wasn't planning this. The babies are so small and see through. I've counted about 7. I want them to survive and grow a little bigger so I can give them to a pet shop or sell them/give them away to a good home. Do i just carry on like normal and let them do there thing? The tank is only...

    Stress coat

    so what do i do?
  22. S

    Stress coat

I noticed this morning that one of my cories is completely missing his back tail and fin. It nearly looks like he is chopped in half. The end looks kind of feathery like it's growing back already. He is breathing really fast and stressed out but he was also eating and swimming around. I turned...
