    Amazon sword root tab advice

I normally use two. See how it goes. If that seems okay, I'll continue with that amount every six weeks to two months.

    Excel and Anacharis

I planted some anacharis and within a week and a half they were gone. At the time I understood some plants will melt and wasn't concerned as there were a few new shoots starting. Then the new shoots died. After this, I read that excel is detrimental to anacharis. I ordered more anacharis and...

Would Like to Verify - 2 Male Angels?

Oh, not in my house. My female bit the cornea off of the male's one eye and damaged the other eye. I make sure he gets enough to eat as he is almost totally blind. They don't interact anymore. When I first got them and they grew to size, there were attempts at breeding. I don't think the...

Double the fixtures = double the par?

I doubled my Current light and found it really made a difference - though I can't measure the par. I'm looking to change to a fluval led. maybe.

Would Like to Verify - 2 Male Angels?

Thank you, Andy. I'm not anticipating much atm. When I purchased, I wanted two males as I have no other tanks and didn't want aggression issues. Maybe down the road I'll consider saving the spawns but for now, as long as there's no fighting, I'm happy with that.:)

Would Like to Verify - 2 Male Angels?

:ermm:And eggs were laid. Both being attentive and there doesn't seem to be any aggression (which was my biggest worry). I'll see how this goes. I'm sure they'll end up as some added protein in the fish's diet.

Would Like to Verify - 2 Male Angels?

Well, I got my answer today. After originally posting, I noticed this one becoming rather portly and saw the large tube, as well as pecking away at the filter intake, along with the other guy. (Just fed-hence the bloodworms in the pic)

Would Like to Verify - 2 Male Angels?

:)Thank you. They've grown pretty fast. They were the size of a quarter when I brought them home and now I estimate their body to be 3 times that. The guy (?) in the second pic is slight smaller.

Would Like to Verify - 2 Male Angels?

In the first photo I'm certain he's a male. The second, though the pic is a tad distorted from the bowfront, may be male. Just wanting an experts opinion. I probably should page Andy. . I've had these guys(?) since September 2015.

    Algae Bloom problem?

It ran 24 hours a day but I'm not entirely sure for how many days. I believe it was all cleared by about a week and I left it running for another week. I rehomed the pleco in the interim. I have a 36g (136L)

    Algae Bloom problem?

The UV sterilizer was the only thing that took care of my algae bloom. It'll take a while. You'll see noticeable improvement daily though. And I had to, unfortunately, rehome my pleco in order to keep it that way without running the UV. Holy cow, that pleco is big.

What is causing my water to have a red tone? The sponge filters?

Check the water heater. Sometimes when they're ready to go, rust gets into the heated water. Run some hot water into a white bucket and see if it's red. Then run cold into the same bucket. If the cold doesn't have the red color, replace your water heater. Just a thought.

    EMERGENCY:angel is all messed up

I have to agree with Delapool. Take a couple days to sort through your feelings. I had to euthanize my EJBD for persistent issues. He was over 7" in length and I had him a number of years. It takes a bit to get over the loss. I almost tore down my tank, since he was the last fish in there...

    Disturbing new trend

When I went to my lfs to purchase new fish, he asked if I wanted Glo-fish and I declined. Regardless of the "mass appeal" of these fish, I just think that many will purchase on impulse, and the fish will die within a short period of time. I think that is my biggest issue with them. They're a...

    Poppa's Tanks n Stuff

Gah. I keep coming to this thread (as well and Andy's and Brooks) and seeing the beautiful discus, rams, and angels, which makes me want to get several tanks started. It's like a drug. So frustrating - no room, unless I move my 92 y/o MIL or my husband out. Hmmm. *sigh* Guess I'll have to...

    Delapool's 150 gallon tank

Nice looking tank. I'm not much of an ornament fan (though I did have a castle before :ermm: ) I really do like the plane. What substrate do you have other that the gravel?

Nearly Broke My Arm Patting Myself on the Back

Well, all I know, at the moment, is that the ones I have don't really seem to have much of a spot. I can sometimes see an area that would be where the spot should be, but it is pale blue. At least on one I see this. The dorsal spikes on one (the I haven't seen any spot) are getting...

The cories were my main reason for keeping it at 78-79. I'll bump it up. Thank you Bandit.:)

Nearly Broke My Arm Patting Myself on the Back

Tank is currently 79. Would 80+ be okay with the angel, tetras, and corys? Both rams look almost the same, except one (that hides a lot) is a little larger in the body. No red bellies on either, which has me a tad confused as both have the dorsal spikes and the more rounded anal fin. And, when...
