Yes, you can drop a powerhead into the sponge filter's central column instead of using an air pump for uplift. The problem you might run into is finding a powerhead adjustable to a low enough flow rate for a 10 gallon tank.

I'm just saying that the phrase "in a rut" means that it's the normal, everyday, boring, routine. A disease can't have you stuck in a rut, or your fish would all be dead already. A sudden onslaught of disease brings you out of your rut, albiet in a bad way.

"Does a disease have your tank stuck in a rut?" You should consider changing that description. The dictionary tells me that "rut" means: boring routine, humdrum existence, habit I don't think anyone makes a habit of having a disease in their aquariums.

A salt treatment works fine with clown loaches as well. I only raised my tank temp to 81 but added 2 teaspoons per gallon of salt. The ich was off the fish on day 5 and I removed the salted water after day 14.

Oh yeah, definitely. Your fish will be fine. I raised a whole mess of guppies in a 46 gallon tub where I fed canas a variety of greens. I found out guppies love canned green beans. My cories enjoy peas too.

A Cana's favorite food for calcium content is fresh Turnip Greens. They'll also eat other dark green stuff like romaine lettuce, kale, collard greens, mustard greens. They'll honestly eat just about anything, but much "salad" stuff is just water and has no nutrition in it.

My son has a 5 gallon tank with lots of plants and a few of my smallest adult male guppies. They seem quite happy in there and provide lots of color.
