    55 gal tank replacement

    Fully established tank leaked at bottom. How long will the BBs last in the gravel that was removed from the old tank? Wet gravel is being stored in a room temperature ice cooler.

    55G fishless day 26 NO3 drop?

    Day 25= Ammo 0, no2 >5.0, no3 >100, PH 7.5 Added plant food. Dosed ammo to 4.0. Day 26, 24 hrs later= Ammo 0, no2 >5.0, no3 5, PH 7.2 (tested no3 twice) What's going on? Could it be the plant food that brought down nitrates? Maybe time for a PWC?

    Fishless cycle bacteria bloom?

    Have new 55 gal tank. Day 7 of the fishless cycle, have "foggy" "whiteish" cloudy water. Might this be a normal "bacteria bloom"? I did use seed (water squeezed from sponge filter) added on day 2. Added 2 plants on day 2. Have limited the tank light to 4 hrs per day. Tank positioned with no...

    New 55 gal heater?

    Have recently setup a new 55 g tank after long absence from fishkeeping. Have started fishless cycle. Have one 200 watt heater which is not getting up to temp. Room temp is about 60 degrees. Should I add another 200 watt heater? Thanks... outstanding forum here for old guys starting up again!
