My black moor is sick (again)

Thank you for the article. I'm going to take the lid off and turn off the light. We'll see I guess.

My black moor is sick (again)

I was reading something about gas bubble disease.. Could this be that? I have a lid on the tank that only has a small feeding hole...

My black moor is sick (again)

Here is a good picture. The fluid is built up right behind the eye.

My black moor is sick (again)

No it didn't really. The spot is now gone but the eyes are still swollen. It's the oddest thing... I did a water change to see if something in the water was doing it to them. So far no change. Still soaking pellets in meds. Yes the carbon is part of a cartridge. I removed them for the first...

My black moor is sick (again)

Update: the black moor and his tank mate (also telescope eyes) have swollen eyes. Not Popeyes, but like the areas behind their eyes are bloated and look like blisters. The pupils aren't cloudy or anything like that. Ammonia has been less than 0.25 for a few days after stopping the last...

My black moor is sick (again)

It's the little white spot about a centimeter away from his gill. It's not a missing scale but a small little ball of white stuff. It's gone down in size since then.

My black moor is sick (again)

Hi everyone, I am sorry I have not replied. My parameters are usually spot on (usually 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, between 10-30 nitrate) I do a weekly water change of about 70%. I tried a round of marineland all in one that did not get rid of the spot I found on his side (he is also missing a scale...

    Black moor sick help!

Here is a picture. I treated him for ick a couple of months ago and now this is showing up. He has white stringy poop. What should I do for treatment?

My black moor is sick (again)

I feed him a pretty varied diet already (peas, frozen brine shrimp, variety of pellets, oranges). He is not acting any differently, no bloating or anything like that. Could it just be from stress? He has a tank mate and usually freaks out during feeding time. He chases the other one away from...

My black moor is sick (again)

It definitely doesn't look like there is any scale damage. I looked again at him and whatever was on him is not there anymore, but he still has stringy poop. Could that alone be a sign of parasite?

My black moor is sick (again)

Hello, so I have a two year old black moor who had what looked like ich about a month ago. I treated the tank with malachite green/formalin for 10 days and the spot went away. Now, my black moor has white spots on him that are so small I can hardly see them except from the side. It almost looks...

    New to mystery snails...

All my parameters are where they should be, nitrates aren't high either. Thank you for your help, I woke up this morning to find him out and about again after floating last night.

    New to mystery snails...

Hello, I have had an "inca" snail for a few days now. When I got him, he was very active and practically did laps around the tank. I did my weekly water change yesterday and ever since he has been inactive. He hid in his shell awhile but today he has been stuck to the glass and a significant...

Could I feed my fish oysters?

That actually sounds awesome. Will be doing that tomorrow. Thank you both :)

    Goldfish needs your help!

Could you post a picture? I once had lost a fancy to dropsy who showed similar signs. Is there any bloating?

Could I feed my fish oysters?

I recently bought a can of oysters (sounded good at the time) but am having a hard time finishing them, it's a rather large can. Would it be okay or healthy to feed them to my goldfish? Seems like an odd question, but thought I'd ask instead of just tossing them :)

    Salt bath?

From what I've heard you can run a hospital tank using an extra filter you may have already on your main tank. If you don't have an extra one running, I would get one on there, let it run for at least a week I'd say, then transfer it to the hospital tank. In the meantime, I would look into...

    Goldfish Question

My goldfish yawns all the time. Seems to be a common thing and probably not something to worry about :) Mine also runs into the glass lightly, I believe this to be because he is a telescope and doesn't see well anyways. I don't think you should worry too hard about either :)

    Salt bath?

From what I've heard, salt baths or dips strip the slime coat and kills/removes any possibly harmful bacteria on your fish. Not 100% on this. Epsom salt baths are great for constipation and bloating. That being said, probably not ideal for a fish with open wounds. I would think it would cause...

    Goldfish Feeding Schedule

Personally, I feed mine a mixture of pellets, flakes, and freeze dried bloodworms. Every 3 days or so I will put some orange or mandarin on a veggie clip for extra vitamin c (and he loves it). My fish seems to do well with this and I figure the food mixture gives him a range of nutrients.

    Goldfish Questions...

It seems we all may have to agree to disagree :) all that matters is that we have the best life for our fish in mind...

    Goldfish Questions...

So I currently have a 29g tank with only one black moor. I have a couple questions about stocking, temperature, and possible tank mates. First, I have heard many variations on how much space a fancy goldfish needs, anything from ten gallons a fish to 55. What is your opinion? The reason I ask...
