    First Reef Tank 120

Does anyone have a good plumbing diagram for a 120 gallon dual overflow?

Good news. Just found out the company that makes the stands does a 15 inch canopy for reefs. I think I could put the taotronics lights inside the canopy.

    90 gallon saltwater build

Can I ask what lighting you are using? FOLR, or reef?

Thanks Carey. You are a wealth of info. How high is your canopy? I would like to get the lights under the hood, but the standard seems to be 7". That seems to low. I think you want the lights a minimum of 7" above water with means you need probably 15 in to have enough room.

Did you order rock on line? Those are nice pieces

    First Reef Tank 120

Ordering tank, stand and canopy for my 120. Good reviews on the taotronics lights, plus a huge savings. 2 questions (1) what power heads would you use for a 120, and, (2) what test kits would you get for reef? I was looking at API saltwater and reef master kit.

I saw in a customer review that someone cut holes in the canopy and installed acrylic so the lights didn't get water on them. I think I may get 2 165 w. Again, thanks!

One more thing, how far above the water do they need to be? I will have a canopy, but doubt you could mount these to the top and have enough room. Again, thanks for your help, learning a lot. Bet your 180 is awesome!

Thanks, a lot cheaper too. If I read Mr. X right, they can be set up on timers? Is that right?

The aquaticlife LED XS-uv appears to pack more of a punch. Any experience with that?

Thanks for the input! I am going to set it up refugium. Carey, if you put multiple Current strips on, would that help, or do you run into the same problem?

    First Reef Tank 120

Planning on an Aqueon Pro Flex 4 and converting it to refugium. I also plan to cycle the tank and sum with uncured rock since it is new. Can you mix base rock with uncured live rock to start? If so, what would be the best % of each. Thanks in advance

    First Reef Tank 120

Looking to start my new reef tank. Is 120 48 x 24 x 24 a good starting size. I want reef and fish, and a tank big enough to hold 1 or 2 larger fish (tangs). Also, has anyone had experience with Current Orbit Marine lighting? Thanks, looking forward to starting this. Been wanting to do this...

Wanting to start a saltwater aquarium

Thanks! I want to do reef and fish, but want a tank big enough to have at least one large fish (yellow/blue tang). Also, has anyone had experience with Current LED lighting. The orbit marine looks pretty cool, but can't find out if they are good or not.
