    Cichlid choice!

Keyhole is the safest, but nobdy mentioned rainbow cichlids. They are usually pretty gentle and good with plants from what ive heard. Incidently, ive heard of some angels eating oto.

    Cichlid keeping questions

It might be fine. Its just something you have to watch. I think some species are more individualized then pthers. Thats why i think my loaches and plecs get names and the neons are just called the robots. I only have one more concern for the tank, and it may not even be an issue, but gourami...

    Kuhli Loach

They do great with cory. One of mine occasionally sleeps against a large emerald cory. Ive neer had a problem. I do have to disagree about never seeing them. i have three in my tank and they are very active. I see them all the time. If they feels safe you will see them. When mine...

    Cichlid keeping questions

Gourami ladies are tougher then they look and like to be woo'd. My previous experience with them led to the female trying to eat the male that was flirting with her. Poor form.

    Swordtails menfolk

No, they would be the only live bearer in the tank. I was just using them as a primary topswimmer. Cichlids are previously listed rainbow cichlid, im currently considering second type, hopefully the same region. Maybe tbar?

    Swordtails menfolk

Does anyone have experince with large groups of male swordtails? Ive seen similar questions, but this might have a twist, n that they would be with cental cichlids. Im wondering would they be chill with no females present if there were say 5 or 6. Other fish would include rainbow and possibly...

    SNAILS!! Please help...

It depends on the type of loach, myersi and khuli loaches mostly wont event tocuch them ,hillstream either. Zebras and yoyos usually do the best job. I had better luck with temperature control. Depending on the type of snail, they somtimes go dormant if it gets too cool. Then they can be...

Serpae tetra nipping the fins of my Bolivian Rams

Yeah rasboras would work too. Im partial to small loaches, obviously. And there are several types to choose from. They have alot of personality and several can hold their own, but are generally friendly to peaceful tankmates.

Serpae tetra nipping the fins of my Bolivian Rams

Serpae are notoriously nippy. Most of the time tetra schools ignore other fish schools, so im not shocked that they ignored the neons. You might swap them out for a slightly tougher cichlid, but its a gamble. Rainbow cichlids are pretty chill, but the tiniest bit bigger. They might shove back.

    Not wanting to overstock

Def want small rainbows, as the size isn't just about bioload. Rainbows are more like barbs, in that they are very active and use more space for active swimming then many other fish the same size.

    Tankmate recommendations

Sorry, didnt read that it was a tall. :hide: Im not sure though, mine tend to climb things also. Ihave 1 that climbs plant stems like a python, so theyre not always at the bottom. You might be right though. Mine sometimes sleep next too cories. Sounds like a smallcrew of neons or cardinal tetras...

    Tankmate recommendations

Ive had groups of neons school with flames before. Maybe similar redblue. I would also consider khuli loaches. I love mine! They re safe with your current fish and plants, plus have very low bioload. Thyre also fun to watch!

    Euthanasia is not for convenience

I think it is usually ridiculous to euthanize if you just cant take care of the fish. Aquariums are expensive and people, like myself, will always take cheap/ free pets!

Its ver common for them to eat worms and shellfish. Tech if it eats any meat is not an herbivore.
