    Barbs and Angels

I always have in my home aquariums. They both can be fin nippers but the barbs are to fast for the angels and the angels are usually tougher. They work well together. Throw in some cardinals and thats a cool community.

what can i do with cichlids in a 38 gallon?

While I wouldn't recommend it either, the lemons would most likely be ok in that tank if you set it up with lots of good rock structure. Check into Malawi setups to see what I mean.

New tank, did my Bio Spira not work?

Give it time. I'm not a big fan of additives, I know they can help speed things up a bit but there is nothing like time and a well planned/developed system to provide a naturally safe environment for you fish. Wait it out, i know its hard.

Can I leave carbon in place after it is used up?

I like carbon. I have heard all of these rumors but never seen any good evidenve to back it up. It does make the water super clear and does the job fo ammonia too. We have hundreds, sometimes thousands of fish, and our fish are always healthy. But everyone has their own opinion i guess...

    Giving up on Neon Tetras?

Yes, I have better luck with cardinals too. Neons like to have places to hide so dont forget to give them a place to get away from prowlers. It could be your supplier to...or your suppliers supplier. They do some serious stuff to fish nowadays to increase birthrates and growth rates. Since neons...

A few quick questions about a Cichlid tank.

Start with adjusting your aquariums setup, add caves and other structure for the cichlids to hide out in. Try to have a way in and a way out of each spot so they can chase each other through but not get trapped. If that doesnt work consider a dither fish or two such as the infamous danio...

    ICK - problem

rich, Make sure to take out any carbon based filtration you have as it will breakdown the chemicals. raising the temp is a great idea and should not hurt the fish you have listed above. Good Luck!
