    Nervous about possible myco

Well I have what I consider to be the only good news out of this whole saga. My water heater makes water goes up to 130 or 140 degrees Fahrenheit. If it myco, it's not in the filter anymore. Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Aquarium Advice mobile app

No ideas about the tetra either? Another two just got it. Killing all three probably unfortunately.

    Nervous about possible myco

You and me bot. I hate these fish. I absolutely hate them oh my god. Nothing like this has ever happened to me and I've been doing this for over ten years Everyone except the catfishes - their days are numbered. It's them or me at this point I will be happy with a 90 with three fish in...

    Nervous about possible myco

Oh my god I looked in the tank and a female rainbow looks like she's getting a fungus/white spot and I've been doing water changes every 2 to 4 days WHY IS THIS HAPPENING I feel like I need a drink at this point. People who own rainbow fish should be eligible for sainthood because I'm ready to...

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u83/wolflover91/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0005_zpsfk68tnri.jpg I didn't take a death photo, but it was 2x the amount of graphic. The growth you see essentially split his skin. It wasn't as nearly as translucent as it appears. In death it was even larger and...

    Nervous about possible myco

I think the tetra deaths are a separate entity. but I did have an old tetra erratically swimming before death with ragged fins in the middle of this ulcer saga. He didn't have the chance to die and release pathogens as he waas euthanized. other than that tetra, I cannot even think of a fish...

    Nervous about possible myco

Found something interesting in my searches: Rainbowfish Ulcer Disease Something like Goldfish Ulcer Disease but it affects rainbowfish instead of goldfish. Generally brought about by a flesh eating bacteria getting into the skin of a weakened or unwell fish. A small white spot is followed...

    Nervous about possible myco

I've read that it can be due to the natural environment they're from. Boesemanis may not come in contact with it, but bottom feeders quite literally swim amongst the filth and that could be why they don't get it. I've read that laboratories even have issue with this in pristine conditions...

    Nervous about possible myco

Well assuming you buy fish from fish stores odds are you will come across a myco carrier. But this is a debate for another time. I'm starting to give up honestly. Not better with oxytetracycline. I'm thinking the best thing is to cut him open if not for my sanity sake.

    Nervous about possible myco

I don't know, man. I took photos today and I'm wondering if the darkness is just my eyes playing tricks on me. http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u83/wolflover91/649d5b38-ae18-4727-8c34-55de2653e057_zps7ktu8wj7.jpg Ugh.. At the very least, apparently most catfish are immune to myco if it is...

    Nervous about possible myco

Keeping a bit of a log for anyone who is following this thread and for google (nothing I hate more than finding my problem and not finding out what happened) I am taking pictures daily to monitor. This is day 2 of oxytetracycline flakes and the ulcer is visibly darker. almost as you'd see in...

Here's higher res images: The yellow is clearly seen over here as well as some white edges. Any thoughts on if this is a result of healing?

    Nervous about possible myco

Well I have some good news. It looks better. It's less red and more pink, the yellow is surrounding it, with more white (not fungus white) in the middle. Oxytetracycline flakes come today. It's still obviously an ulcer, but it looks slightly better. It might be a bit smaller but hard to say.

    Nervous about possible myco

I'm still going with bacterial for now. It's not uncommon for this group of rainbows to not respond to furan. That's happened before. Another fish had suspected columnaris and it took two rounds of kana and furan to even get the cotton to just go away, no less actually having the wound heal...

    Nervous about possible myco

I've had yet another idea here - Hemorrhagic septicemia. Here's why - He's missing all the tell tale signs of Fish TB. He's not emaciated, not skinny, no stringy poo, and it's quite mucousy and seems to have a bit of a layer over it. Hemo Septicemia is viral hence why it wouldn't respond to...

    Nervous about possible myco

See it actually lightened in color after the kanaplex. No white stringy poo. Not skinny. Nothing other than this sore.

    Nervous about possible myco

Actually. One of the rainbows recently had a strange fungus that would not go away. I'm not actually thinking myco at this point. I've had instances of columnaris in my tank and because of the yellowish mucous center I'm suspecting this might actually be a form of columnaris similar to the...

    Nervous about possible myco

It currently looks like a one off ulcer and I'm pretty sure this has happened before with these fish. rainbows like to beat the hell out of each other (among the males) so this isn't terribly shocking. Furan/kana don't seem to be working though. I ordered oxytetracycline medicated food so...

    Nervous about possible myco

He's been in furan for 4 days. It's not any better. I dosed with kana, and I think he's been in it since 2-5 pm yesterday. Still not any better. Not sure what to do next.

    Nervous about possible myco

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u83/wolflover91/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG2544_zpsk0odcb3l.jpg So apparently rainbowfish are particularly susceptible to myco. One of mine has a red ulcer like wound. Not going to lie, I'm extremely nervous about it. If this wound responds to furan 2, is it...

    90 gallon stocking

Hey guys - feeling a bit gloom at the moment. What sort of South American cichlids would fit into a 90? I just feel limited. Right now all that's in it is: 2 pictus (don't want them again hence having only two) 1 featherfin synodontis Some boesemanis and some diamond Tetras. I've just...

Betta has red spot on body

Your Betta's stomach looks a bit too big. You might want to feed less or split it into two meals. How much do you feed/what do you feed, out of curiosity? Looks like he may have lost a scale.

I feel so awful, hospital tank ammonia spike

I may dose the whole tank with furan 2 because I'm over this fungus. It's been months of endless water changes with no result. It's still "showing" up a bit. I also am running three filters, so it's not that it's dirty.
