How to stock my 20g tall?

So what did you end up getting??

    Love/Hate Aquaclear filters

I've got 4 freshwater tanks, a 125g reef and an indoor turtle pond. On my 55g freshwater tanks I run both an Eheim canister and an Aquaclear hob, but just a AC hob on my 20 g tanks (clawed frog and axolotl) I love that they... pull a lot of gunk out are really easy to clean are fairly cheap I...

Is stress zyme a must for aquariums?

Stress zyme is supposed to build slime coat or something, but is a dechlorinator I believe. I use seachem prime as my dechlorinator. Not familiar with pristine.

    Stocking questions

I like aqadvisor because it not only gives sticking advice, but also compatibility and recommended water change frequency. https://aqadvisor.com/

    Betta fish spots ?

"Usually"? Unless you are taking only a small amount of water then that could be an issue. How is your fish doing?

    Betta fish spots ?

50% Water change would be good, just make sure you are using a dechlorinator to remove the chlorine. Is there a filter of some sort on the tank?

    Dosing.

I have a reef and use kalkwasser and calcium, but if you don't have coral pulling those out of the water them sniperhank is correct. I do add vibrant every other week, but most people wouldn't consider that dosing.

    Would this work

I think bleaching the tank is the nuclear option and I would avoid it. If your tank is a few years old then the substrate is probably extremely filthy. I'd remove and save half of the water along with the fish in buckets, turn off the filters, then use a scrub pad to manually remove the algae...

    Hi! I'm new here

    Welcome!

    Too much sick

What test kit are you using? Did you do a water change after cycling? What water conditioner are you using (seachem prime, API smart start)? What kind of filter is on your tank?

    Betta fish spots ?

I'm assuming it is ammonia burn. How long have you had the fish? Do you have a test kit to test for ammonia? When in doubt, do a water change and hopefully you have a conditioner like seachem prime.

    Ammonia problem?? Please help

I suspect that switching the substrate released the ammonia - sand can get really dirty. I would do a 50% water change and see if that cuts the ammonia down.

My observations and mistakes from 6 years of fishkeeping

Thanks to both of you! Like any tank they are a work in progress :) I had some sand blasted manzanita wood branches with the angels which fills out some empty space, but haven't put them back yet after moving it. And the yellow labs were my first fish and still my favorites. There are some...

My observations and mistakes from 6 years of fishkeeping

They were my first aquarium and they are fun to watch them dig and dig :) so much "personality" :D Continuing... 23 (my mistake) - I mentioned having a generator (or some power outrage plan), but make sure you service those items once a year. I couldn't get the generator to start when the...

My observations and mistakes from 6 years of fishkeeping

13 (my mistake) - not having a plan for when the power goes out. Nothing like a major power outage with a 3 day predicted shutdown in the middle of an Ohio winter, running out to buy a generator that night when the tanks recorded into the 60s (F). Its going to happen sooner or later, be prepared...

My observations and mistakes from 6 years of fishkeeping

Nice work with the pythons! I would like to do something better than just put it down the drain like it do... And your comment leads to 8 (suggestion) - don't trust fish store workers, especially at chains, or their sizing or compatibility recommendations. Do the research first. 9 (my...

My observations and mistakes from 6 years of fishkeeping

Hi everyone, I appreciate all the help you've shared over the years, and just thought I'd share my journey and advice :) I currently have: - 60 g turtle pond (1 pond cooter with 2 gold fish) - 55 g community (3 angels, 12 black skirt tetras and 4 sterbai corydoras) - 125 g mbuna which will be...

Water issues, fish suffering... please help!

How long has it begun in the new 90g? Moving to a new tank and recycling is likely adding stress as well. Do you have a filter or powerhead breaking the water surface to keep the water oxygenated?

How many fish in 200L tank

I got angelfish and neon tetras and now I just have angelfish. So consider those neons expensive food :)

    Betta aquarium

You could do that setup with the bamboo, just lower the water a few inches.

Water issues, fish suffering... please help!

Sounds like you are doing everything right. pH of 8 isn't abnormal. Your tank should cycle quicker if you are using the same filter media. Just keep doing water changes every few days until your parameters stabilize. Good luck!

    True Percula VS Ocellaris

Most stores carry primarily the ocellaris, they are less expensive, I've heard less aggressive, hardier and easier to breed in captivity. I've only kept ocellaris. They are fun, cute little guys. 2 should be fine in a 20 gallon. What is your plan for filtration? Fowlr or Reef? Also, I highly...

    NEW 55 gallon!

I like the aquaclears, easy to maintain, would be perfect if not for issue that sometimes they drain and lose prime during a power outage. Not good if you are out of town :(

Need help, used great value ammonia!

It would help if you could post a picture of what you used. Is it made for fish tanks? Does it contain any other ingredients?
