Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

Autumnsky, I have done one water change - 33% and I started treating with Karacyn in the case that it is dropsy. She also doesn't seem to want to eat peas so I do not know if she is constipated of something or not. Do you have any ideas as to what I could do? Thanks!

Here is a video of her sitting at the bottom. It is not very good but you can see that nothing is moving except her gills.

Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

Hi guys, Update: things have got worse. I thought that she was getting better but her stomach seems bloated (not vertically but horizontally - it is wide) now and she continues to do the same thing - lying at the bottom with nothing but her gills moving. She seems to have trouble getting off...

Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

Hi everyone, I have been watching my Betta and she is getting better. I have not been able to get a picture because she is normally either hiding in the plant and toys in the tank or moving too fast for me to get a picture. Also, thank you for all of the help! If my betta doesn't continue to...

Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

SNorlin and dragon14, Hi guys. Sorry I wasn't able to post earlier. My beta seems to be getting a bit better, but today something extremely strange happened. So at night I went down to get a cup of water and turned on the light. I decided to go check on my betta and when I walked up to the...

Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

SNorlin, I will send pictures soon - maybe tomorrow. I do not have any live plants because there is not too much natural light where my tank is located but I have fake silk ones that she seems to love. I will try lowering the water also. It is a 10 gallon tank so that should not end up being...

SNorlin, I found something called JUNGLE FUNGUS CLEAR TANK BUDDIES on Petco's website. Do you think that these would do the trick? Thanks!

Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

SNorlin, I am going to put aquarium salt in right now and I have used it before so I am pretty clear on how much to put. I will be sure to turn off the light. The water stats are above. I haven;t done anything new to the tank lately and I have had the Betta for just under 1 year...since she...

Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

SNorlin, Hi. Sorry the 86 is actually supposed to be 76. Also, she is in a tank with one glow light tetra and two albino tetras. The fins do not seem to be overly clamped, and she does come up for air. She does not really come up for food right now though but if I drop a bit in when she...

    Fin rot help?

Squiffy, I have encountered finrot many times and I find that the most effective way to get rid of it is to first increase the water temperature to 80-84 degrees. Then use something like API Melafix and do a 50% water change afterwards. Hope this helps!

    Water change question

Natrualbeauty22, Water changes every week are not necessary but they cannot really hurt. I water change every week because you are always better safe than sorry. Hope this helps!

Betta laying at bottom of tank, not eating or moving

Hi guys, A few days ago, I went to feed my fish and found my betta sitting on the bottom motionless. She would not move until i tapped the side of the tank a few times. Ever since then, whenever I look, she is sitting at the bottom somewhere. When I tap, she moves a bit, gets air but just...

red near gills (pics), do you know what it is?

Oh sorry, my bad. Thought I was a betta. Check your ammonia and nitrate. If those are both in check then it is probably natural. Some rasboras have transparent gills which low their blood to be seen through. It is probably natural if your chlorine and ammonia are normal. Hope this helps!

    Help! Ich treatment not working!

Try to keep the temperature as high as you can and use aquarium salt. Also as Coryluv said, get an air pump. Hope this helps!

red near gills (pics), do you know what it is?

Does the fish seem to be gasping for air, because in that case it probably has inflamed gills. You should isolate the fish immediately and treat it with aquarium salt and stress coat. Stop aquarium salt after 10 days. Do 75% water changes every day. If this does not work, treat with API...

Cardinal Tetra Curved Spine, Not Eating

I treated with melafix and aquarium salt a while ago when the fish had finrot and ich respectively, but I haven't done anything else apart from that.

    ICK!!!!

You can, but I would wait. You don't want to flood the tank with chemicals because that may end up killing the fish. Hope this helps!

I think my goldfish has ich? How to treat?

Aquarium Salt So sorry about your fish from my experience, you can effectively treat ich with aquarium salt. Here's what to do: - Raise the temperature temporarily to 76-80° F. - Do a 25% water change. - Add freshwater aquarium salt to the tank in the quantity said on the box based on your...

Cardinal Tetra Curved Spine, Not Eating

Hi guys, I have a cardinal tetra who has a curved spine. It had actually had a curved spine for a few months now, but now it seems to swim very weirdly. It almost seems as if it doesn't know what it is doing. I normally feed it tropical fish flakes or freeze dried blood worms, but now when I...
