    Ugly Bio-Wheel problem

I am not talking about the wheel itself but the entire filter.....when it stops there is no water-flow whatsoever, I can't hear or feel the motor/impeller trying to work at all....just completely dead silent with no water movement at all. (everything set up properly, filter primed, plugged in...

    Ugly Bio-Wheel problem

We are starting a 2nd aquarium....only a small Hex aquarium.....we were using the Bio-Wheel 20 gallon filter, but 2 of them have completely stopped working inside of 1 day. Anyone have any idea why that might be? Terribly frustrating and disheartening. small-gravel bottom, water level seems...

Mystery Cory (included picture - need help identifying)

Thanks guys :) Yea, these little guys are awesome....Even though I have 3 of one kind and 3 of the other (at least both kinds have *some* buddies, I was hoping to get 6 of one species), they do all 6 hang out together and swim together the vast majority of the time. They have explorered...

Mystery Cory (included picture - need help identifying)

I have a variety of Cory I can't really identify. This little fella here: I also have 3 of these (the one in the foreground), and they appear to be Julii's... They were sold under the same name from the same tank, but clearly they are a different species....not just the markings are...

A Blackout with Anacharis (Green Water issue) w/ questions

I have, but to be totally honest anything to do with planted tanks is quite overwhelming. I understand that the cause of the algae bloom is some sort of imbalance in the tank (not allowing the plants to outcompete the algae for nutrients) but right now I'm terrified of adding or doing the wrong...

A Blackout with Anacharis (Green Water issue) w/ questions

What I have here is just the regular Flourish, but I have been afraid to add any to the water (it is still factory sealed), because I don't want to make the algae bloom even worse hah :( I'm sure any of you vets would have been able to knock this problem out in no time flat, and I'm sure the...

A Blackout with Anacharis (Green Water issue) w/ questions

Some things to report: Today I got the phosphorus test and the GH/KH test: This evenings test results are thus: Temp: 78 PH: 6.7 Ammonia: 0.0 Nitrite: 2.0 Nitrate: 80 Phosphate: 0.5 dKH: 2 dGH: 3 (the GH test was really hard to tell on, 3 is my closest estimate - there was...

A Blackout with Anacharis (Green Water issue) w/ questions

Thanks for the advice guys - I'm going to try to track down a phosphate and gh/kh test. Is there anything else I'm going to need? And where would I get crushed coral or something to help stabilize the PH ?

A Blackout with Anacharis (Green Water issue) w/ questions

Took the cover off this morning and did a 50% water change. The water was drastically clearer, and the Anacharis mostly seems to be OK (some of the stems that were not so healthy before the blackout may be far enough gone that they need to be removed but otherwise they seem to have done fine.)...

A Blackout with Anacharis (Green Water issue) w/ questions

Interesting - I really didn't think I had a light level that would be benefited by CO2. I can easily drop down to 1.5wpg. I'll think about going with DIY CO2 as well.

A Blackout with Anacharis (Green Water issue) w/ questions

Hi, I am new to these forums (new to aquariums period) but I need some advice. I am 5 weeks into cycling my first Aquarium. The water tests I have are PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. My Aquarium is a 20 Gallon High with 3 - 15 watt florescent tubes (2.25wpg). I have 4 bunches of...
