    Another Tank Disaster!

Any signs of disease/parasites other than the 1 that was having trouble swimming?

What would you add to this tank?

I'm not an expert, but I think the discus need much higher temps than the rest of the fish in there.. like 84* F Aside from that it looks like a pretty nice community you've got going there... I'm a fan of big school's of smaller fish but that's just my opinion.

    Share your fishie mistakes!!!

When I was much younger (around age 10) I had a betta in a 1 gallon bowl. My family was going on vacation for a week so I left it with one of those 7 day feeders. What I didn't know was my dad turned the heat off in the house while we were gone and it was the dead of winter and there was no...

    New tank - fish dying

I would bring a sample of your water to the LFS to get tested. There may be something in there that your home testing kit is missing.

Red Claw crab - it's eating the fish!

Oh, I should also mention that in the same tank as my red claw I also have a cobalt blue lobster... he is more of a threat to the fish than anything but still seems to be pretty safe. He's about 4 inches from head to tail and keeps the bottom of my tank pretty spotless, picks through all the...

Red Claw crab - it's eating the fish!

Mine is about an inch across which I think is about the same size as yours in cm. I'm not sure what sex it is. The tank it was in at the LFS had about 100 of the little buggers in a 10 gal with shallow water, I bought one. The next day I went back because I wanted to get another and they were...

Rena XP3 Canister Filtter vs. Marineland Magnum 350 Pro

I don't have the 350, but I have the H.O.T. magnum 250 and I love it. I've also heard good things about Rena cannisters but I have yet to try one. I would say you'd do well with either one.

Red Claw crab - it's eating the fish!

So far I am having a very different experience than you. I too have a red clawed crab. He's in a community tank and I also was told at the LFS that he is 99% fish safe. I was also told to avoid keeping him with very slow fish. He's in with 4 gold skirt tetra's, 2 black widow tetra's, 4...

    Discus tankmates

I've heard on another forum that corydoras sterbai and cardinal tetras are good... agree?

    Discus tankmates

What makes a good tankmate for the Discus fish? The guy who sold them to me at the LFS said angels go well with them since they both have the same temperment and ph/gh needs... but some stuff I've read online says angels are more agressive feeders and will bully the discus. Which is true?

What would you do with this 50,000 gal monster home tank??

Wow, 7 days to fill and 10,000 weekly water changes... that's unreal. I now have a goal for when I make my first billion

Can anyone recommend a diatom filter for a 50 gal?

I use a h.o.t. magnum with the micron cartridge. It can be used with or without diatomacious earth... I've done both. With the regular micron cartridge, you can run it 24x7 to achieve great water quality on an already good tank. With the micron cartridge plus a scoop of diatomacious earth, you...

    My 40g Tank

Do you have any special lighting on that discus or does it look that good under natural light? : )

Starting up my first 55 gal

Here's today's updates, planted the rest of the tank and added some rocks.

Starting up my first 55 gal

Didn't think about the white gravel showing dirt/algae, hopefully it won't be too much of an eyesore... I actually have about a 1 inch layer of natural colored gravel underneath the white that I had leftover from another tank, I could probably just mix it up to blend it all together. That might...

Starting up my first 55 gal

I've gone from 10 to 20 to this new 55. Pretty bare right now but I hope to update this as I add more decor, my next step is adding some rockwork on the left side of the tank with some more plants thrown in. Here it is empty ( ignore the baby, she just seems to love staring at my fish tanks...
