Just getting started with Ranchus. 55 gallon for a trio?? Male or female?

There is no need to worry about breeding. If they do breed, the eggs will be eaten by the parents.

Coldwater fish for 20 gallon tall tank?

The rosy red minnows should be perfectly fine after they make it through quarantine. They are pretty tough fish. It's the overcrowding that leads to stress and diseases, but given time they will recover quite well. The paradise fish would do fine your setup as well. One would make a nice...

    Merging 2 tanks

It will be fine to add them to the 15 gallon. I certainly wouldn’t add any more fish after that though as the tank would be on the full side

    Geophagus Stocking & Tankmates

If it were me I’d just do the group of geos (My favorite is the tapajos) and then smaller shoaling fish. Possibly I’d do angelfish as well. A large group of lemon tetras with a shoal of cories on the bottom would look really nice IMO and would complement the geos pretty well.

    Unidentified "Divorced" Dwarf Cichlids

They look like they could possibly be a species of laeticara?

    Oddball aquarium setup and suggestions?

I think pea puffers would be really fun in that tank.

    Merging 2 tanks

I agree with King Fisher. Common plecos shouldn’t be kept by most people because they don’t have large enough tanks for them

What should temperature be for guppies?

I'd try to keep them between 77-80

Can juvenile guppies escape breeder box

    I'd say it's definitely possible

    Weather loaches

Welcome! Do you have a picture? It sounds like he is probably albino, but I wouldn't say albinos are rare.

    Fish Stock Opinions

It should work, but would it be possible to rehome a couple of the tetras so that you could have the remaining ones in larger groups?

    Thoughts on blackworms?

I've only used freeze-dried blackworms so I can't speak for the live ones, but as far as live cultures go, microworms are pretty easy to keep and very prolific. Have you looked into them?

    Sweet potato for nitrates removal

BBradbury, I know you started a thread on your Chinese evergreens along time ago, but would you mind starting another one explaining how you do it? I tried to use some but unfortunately my plants just slowly rotted. I really like them and would love to incorporate them into my tanks, not to...

    Unheated nano tank?

Awesome! I'd love to see a picture when you get it figured out :)

    Molly help

Yeah 79 is good for them. You will definitely have better success in a larger tank because that will give fry more room to hide and they will grow faster due to cleaner water. If you just want feeders and your 10gal tank then I would recommend guppies or platies because they stay smaller and in...

    Patio Pond and Mosquito Fish

Native minnows would be other potential candidates, or, if you're willing to bring the fish inside when it gets too cold, the domesticated livebearers would also be a good fit.

    I'm Making a New Aquarium

I would just get as large of a tank as you possibly can. I think you'll find that the bigger groups of the shoaling fish will be much more enjoyable than having only 6 or 8 of them. Larger tanks are also easier to maintain as they are much more stable.

    60g Tanganyika Tank

Awesome! Julie's are very cool fish!

    Patio Pond and Mosquito Fish

Water troughs for livestock make excellent tub ponds by the way and they are much cheaper than glass tanks if you compare based on volume!

    Patio Pond and Mosquito Fish

This is a very good idea. You could start with just a couple fish and they will multiply like crazy! Definitely very do-able! Using plants like water hyacinths, water lettuce, and marginal pond plants will function as the bulk of your filtration. Rain is typically used as water changes in...

    Unheated nano tank?

I think least killifish sound perfect for this tank. They are native to the US and do great in unheated tanks. Contrary to their name, they are actually a livebearer, not a killifish. They are very small fish with the females at about an inch in lengths max and the males significantly smaller...

    Molly help

Mollies should breed at any temp that is comfortable for most tropical fish but I agree that 78 is a good spot for them. I would do 50% water changes once a week. They do prefer harder water but it is better to keep your parameters stable rather than chasing ph all of the time. What size tank...

    Plants with African cichlids

It is possible to use plants, but it doesn’t always work. It’s worth at least trying out with an anubias. You might be surprised
