Plecos do have a heavy appetite and like protein also as they get larger. If they don't get enough to eat, they will wreck your plants. I started a planted tank some years ago and I realized that that is one of my worse purchases. They should be in a larger than 55g and with Oscars and such...

When planting, do you leave the foam and lead weight on the plant? I planted some plants months ago and left them on. Now the plants have developed roots and I'm thinking of removing the foam and lead weight. Thanks in advance.

I have the Rio 10. It is quiet as long as I don't let it touch the sides of the sump. I like the shock absorber feet that come with it. I have mine suspended with zip ties. Very quiet that way.

My heaters is on the same power strip as my pump so they are off when I'm doing water changes.

Jeff, If I had to do it over again or make modifications to my PVC drain, I would have used two 45 degree angles instead of 90 degree angles. I think that would be slightly quieter.
