    New African Cichlid tank. Rocks?

Hiding spots are always good, in my opinion it's more about moving things around to lessen aggression. As they get older they will claim a spot for themselves, by moving things around every week or 2 they don't get that chance. Mbunas need these hiding spots more than the peacocks and haps...

stocking and growth of african cichlids

That will be fine you just may have to clean it a little more often when you get up to 20 fish. You can never have to much filtration, I have enough to do double my gallons of my tank. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

stocking and growth of african cichlids

I do a about a 40% water change once a week. You may be able to get away with doing it every other week now but when you get to 20 fish you will definitely want to do it weekly. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

stocking and growth of african cichlids

I've had a peacock and hap tank for about a year now, and the chasing is just part of it no matter how many or how big they are. As far as growth rate I think that has a lot to do with what and how much you feed them. I feed NLS and once a day and a couple of the original fish I got that are...

What is your favorite Haplochromis species?

If your going to put a peacock or hap to this tank I would make sure he is much larger than the Mbuna. Mbuna are much more aggressive imo than any peacock or hap and the Mbuna will kill a single add in for sure. As far as what species, if you want some red how about a dragon blood peacock...
